UP CLOSE WITH THE BABY PIGLETS

in #animalphotography7 years ago (edited)

They sure are cute at this age!

Some of you have probably already seen the story about these piglets moving back into the neighborhood with their mom. I thought that it would be a good opportunity to get some more practice in with my camera, and to share some cute animal photos with all of you. Enjoy the photos!

Wow, you liked it that much after it was only posted for 4 seconds?

Good thing for you I don't downvote people.....

You know what I'm saying.... I'll give them an "F" for eFfort.

that's awesome, pigs are like a garbage disposal that makes ham.

So so cuteeee!!! 😍😍😍

Glad that you think so!

I love piglets. We raised lots of it when I was in grade school. I'm missing the old days seeing your post @papa-peper. :)

Your piglets are really adorable; they do tend to grow up to become quite a handful though. As a kid, I remember being amazed by how a cute piglet could grow into a 600-lb sow...

Man, I'm not sure how I'd handle a 600# sow.

These were "Danish Landrace" pigs, which are those big very pale pigs, but not the ones (usually) with all the fat rolls. Litters of 12 piglets were not unusual. They were really cute until they'd get to be about the size of a Labrador... then it became a major wrestling match.

I believe it. We had a wrestling match with this one to get her in the trailer even, I can't imagine if she was twice the size!

So adorable.
Thank you so much for sharing these photos with us.
These guys are so cute. I bet little-peppers really enjoyed them.

Three little piggies, eh? So are you the big bad wolf?

Pig manure makes great fertiliser once composted. Got to be sure it is well broken down or it is too rich for a lot of plants, but once it has, it is some of the best fertiliser there is. Possibly better even than chook manure.

You can also make it up to a liquid fertiliser.
We used to have a 44gallon drum. Half filled with pig manure, filled with water, lid on, allow to fester for a while, a few months, and watered the gardens once a week with diluted servings. Best vege gardens in the region.

Also did this with carp and chook manure. The worms love the gardens this water is used upon. Just make sure it is well brewed so you don't burn the roots or leaves and tips of the plants.

Oh wow, carp and chook manure? I can't wait for aquaponics!

Aquaponics is a great thing. Growing up your fish whilst at the same time growing healthy and nutritious vegetables. What could be better than that?

They're gorgeous little pigs!
