Turkish dove

Guguştiuc, called regional and Turkish dove, is a sedentary bird of the Columbidae family resembling a wild pigeon.

Its penny is brown-gray on the back and on the womb, characteristic of this bird being black stripe on the neck. It is about 28 centimeters long and comes from Asia Minor.

At the beginning of the 20th century, guguştiucii invaded the whole of Europe, reaching up to Sweden and England, finding a free ecological niche where they could install. Although they resemble the city pigeons, they do not interfere with them, with completely different objections. While a pair of guguştiuci defend their territory of another pair of the same species, the pigeons do not have a delimited territory, living together with other birds of their species.

A difference between these two different birds is the place of the nest. While pigeons nest in trees, pigeons are in anthropic construction such as balconies, bridges, and there is no competition for nesting or food that is good for cities.

Although they have their nest in the tree, they are in or near cities to avoid and to be sheltered from other egg-eating birds. Nibbling all year round, the guguştiuc can take between 3 and 5 rows of chickens between March and November. Eggs, like the rest of the columbians, are both pitiful of their parents. The incubation takes place within 14-16 days, after which the fresh chickens are covered by the parent for 10 days and fed with a secretion generated by the guash of the parents.
