Reindeer Rescue: Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

A beautiful and relaxed #scene, these #Alaskan #Reindeer were rescued and cared for by the non-profit organization, Alaskan Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC). This non profit dedicates itself to conservation education and quality care for these wild animals along with many others.

Peacefully resting, these reindeer have grown accustomed to living free from the worryful alertness they must maintain in the #wild where predators and hunters alike might prey upon them. About an hour Southeast of Anchorage AWCC is home to black bears, brown bears, wolves, moose, bison and many more. Some injured, some relocated, this center makes a great effort to restore their residents to full #health and return them to the wild.

With large open enclosures, this wildlife conservation center feels like a spacious recovery home for wild animals, rather than a typical congested zoo. If you venture to Alaska and find your yourself lacking in wildlife sightings, this is a great place to visit. Not only will you get to experience Alaskan wildlife up close and personal safely, but you will also be contributing to the care and maintenance of rescuing such amazing creatures.
