Animal Photography: Monitor Lizard

Montor Lizard

Its one of Africa's biggest lizards. They can grow as big as 2.6 metres in length and can weigh a whopping 91 kg. They can also reach speeds of 20km/h which makes one of Africa's most ferocious predators.

These lizards are almost entirely carnivorous. They eat insects, spiders, fish, birds and even other lizards. In South Africa its quite common for people to have these lizards as pets.
