The wise soul of the sea

1A5A2002.jpg

Turtles are the wise souls of the sea, existing for about 100 million years. They have seen the seas flourish with creatures big and small (long before modern humans ever existed).

We have spread out our junk across the blue, like plastic bags and fishing nets, which they consume or get tangled in. We destroy their home, habitats like sea grasses and corals. So it is of no surprise that with a blink of an eye their numbers are falling.

Thankfully there are groups like Australian Seabird Rescue who are doing good things to try save them.

Every effort counts to help save the world.

We hope you like it.

James & Danielle

You are just so right... there have been here for so much longer than us, humans, yet we have almost destroyed their world in a few decades... I love turtles. We have a bay here in Mexico where the green sea turtles gather to feed on the sea grass, I love swimming above them and watching them below me. Amazing creatures. For thanks spreading the word, any effort towards preserving their environment counts ;)

Turtles are amazing gentle creatures and everyone loves them. Anyone can make a difference. Simple things like not accepting plastic bags and refusing straws can make a big difference to the amount of plastic that ends up in the ocean. We share your love for the turtles @phortun and enjoy educating people about the issues they face and the environment in general!!

Well said. I am used to recycling, bringing my own bags to stores etc. from Europe and I have been doing all of that here in the Caribbean too, no matter how strangely the locals always stare at me. I also clean the beaches from plastic trash sometimes, thats the least I can do here... So happy to meet another devoted nature lover and wildlife advocate here on Steemit. I know you for some time already from photo contests held by Tomas but I never checked your blog until now. I am really happy to see what kind of stuff you have been promoting here on Steemit. You have my follow and support from now ;) Keep up the great job guys.

Here in Oregon, people are also very eco-friendly for the most part. Many coastal stores will not use plastic bags in an effort to keep them from ending up in our oceans.

Really? Thats great! I know California is famous for being eco-friendly but its great to hear other US states are also doing something for the environment :)) Thanks for the info!

It's great to see that there are lots of people that care about the environment here on Steemit! It's great to have met you too and hear about what you are doing in the Caribbean, cleaning beaches and reducing waste, every little bit counts. Thanks for the support!!

Great post! We need to protect them! Keep it up

Thanks @i-gordan! Totally agree, we have a long way to go but don't plan on stopping anytime soon

Thank you for sharing this important message, I resteemed it because its something I am passionate about too, I hope everyone can help somehow!

It's great to know you share our passion @vtravels! Education is the key. The more people that know about these issues, the easier it will be to solve them!

I agree, I hope you succeed!

Thank you very much @bluebottlefilms for doing your part to spread the word of conservation for the turtle species! It is vital now more than ever! :)

Not a problem @travelling-two!! The more information out there, the more people will care. Education is the key, most people would be horrified if they knew the plastics they are throwing away were ending up in the ocean and killing turtles. Fingers crossed the message will get mainstream sooner rather than later!

Hopefully, with education and a change in mindset to think that environment is first before anything, will help. Without the environment, other things won't function. We get it, plastics are cheap and convenient, but not for the environment - it's the opposite. The breakdown of plastics takes years and many species don't have this time left to save them.
We hope to play a bigger role in the future to assist the wildlife that needs a help in hand because wouldn't you want that if you were in their shoes? It's the only logical solution. :) thinking of the 🐢

Totally agree!!

This is absolutely beautiful, in every way. Sea turtles are such fascinating creatures and it's nice to see the efforts in saving them! Great post and gorgeous photo!

amazing photo, I love the world under the sea, one day I too would to photograph it!

The ocean is a beautiful place, I hope you'll be able to fulfil your dream one day @claudiaz
