Steemit Android App coming up and my recent project

in #android8 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians, Steemers, whatever you call yourself. I came across Steemit just 3 days ago, this morning I woke up to my account being approved and this is my very first post.

I've been doing Android development for about a year now, I still don't consider myself an expert in the field but I have just recently released my first app on the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.taskail.taskail This is a location based app that allows you post errands and how much you are willing to pay for someone to complete this errand for you, and you can also post services that you offer. You can also browse through what other users have posted and contact them directly if you need their services, or if you can complete their errands and earn extra chash. Have a look at and let me know what you think.

Anyways, now that i'm done promoting my app, let's get to the main point of this post. I really like the idea of steemit, but I was disappointed that there are only 2 apps on the play store, and they are quite terrible. I also looked around and found Steemy, an app project over a year ago that never happened, So i decided to attempt to tackle this issue and here is what I've done in these past 3 days:

As you see, there is still a lot of work to be done, but I have successfully loaded the data from the Steem Api: https://api.steemjs.com/ which is quite a big step. The interactive Steem API here http://steem.esteem.ws/ makes it really easy to look at everything that's available and how to properly load your data.

I also just came across the Steemj library here: https://steemit.com/@steemj and currently sifting through the code to see how i can use it.

My first milestone goal for this project is to make a fully functional Steemit feed reader, I'll then release the first public beta version to the play store. After that i can continue working on adding more functionality.

Since this app will be for you guys, the community, I want to hear from you:

-What features and functionality do you want?
-What should I name the app?
-Can the UI be improved? Can you design a better UI?

I'd like to get some feedback on this.

Welcome to Steemit. The location app sounds like that would be great! I don't have errands, or provide services, but if I did, I would definitely get that app! Hope you find others who will love it. Have fun!

Thanks, I forgot to add in that other detail, It not just for posting services and details, you can also browse through what people have added and contact them directly if you need anything or if you want to complete an errand and ear some extra cash. But there's currently nothing much on there since i just released this app last week and just have 5 users so far lol.

How are you? Edgar-trem, In case this has been your first Introdusemyself Post i'm here to welcome you to Steemit. I hope you have a lot of fun here and you may follow me. Have a great time @rightuppercorner

Hey @edgar-trem, welcome to Steemit!

Nice introduction post! Glad you made it onto this platform. It’s going to change your life, hope you have a good time.

Excellent. I'm also an Android developer altough I still need to learn a lot especially in the UI area.

Nice to see mobile apps being made for steemit. I'm looking into making an steemit related app too(not a reader, but somewhat of an analytics app). eSteem is functional, but doesn't really perform well. I hope your app solves that issue.

I think those questions can be answered better if you actually release the app. And it doesn't need any branding or anything! Just an apk on a file-hosting site would be great!

Ciao! I looked up your profile and saw that you have signed up recently so I thought I'd say hi and welcome you. This deserves an upvote and keep on doing you!
I know how hard it is as a fresh account so my advice would be to give @MinnowPowerUp a go as you can earn up to 30% more steem power than just powering up! It's a subscription based daily upvote bot that draws its power from a delegation pool. I compiled this post to explain the system in more depth and share my own experience in earning wupvotes for over $1 a day.
