Thaddeus Russell - I'm Just Not So Sure About You.steemCreated with Sketch.

in #anarchy7 years ago

I'm always on the lookout for something new to expand my perspective and reasoning of this world. The last thing I ever want to be is sure I know anything. If we aren't stretching to the point of discomfort, then we can be certain that we are not growing. That can be hard to do in an echo chamber.

Brett Veinotte has been a good example of someone I agree with on principle but we probably also agree on all sorts of things generally. That said, I have consistently felt challenged in my beliefs by listening to his School Sucks Podcast. It is satisfying to listen to someone that I agree with and, like I said, who also keeps finding ways to make me question those assumptions.

Then along came this Thaddeus Russell guy. This guy sure does present some challenges. Brett has been having Thaddeus on The School Sucks Podcast somewhat regularly for a while now. Their conversations on the podcast have been very interesting so when I recently heard them talk about Thaddeus' own podcast, I thought I might subscribe and see what that is all about.

I listen to hours of podcasts pretty much every day and have been doing so for probably a good ten years or so by now. I have to give Thaddeus credit for doing something different and very interesting. I am only a about half a dozen podcasts into his series and the people he interviews and the way he interviews them is an experience unlike any I have had until now.

The Unregistered Podcast.

These are the dangerous people and ideas you might find yourself wondering if you should even listen to on a podcast. These are the whores, drug dealers, professionals, or seemingly ordinary people that are breaking the rules of society and conventional thought. So far, the conversations I've heard on here are very intelligent and thought provoking.

If you like something to really rattle your cage, this might be it. I hope you give it a listen.

Sort:

I am always listening to some podcasts when I commute. The unfortunate thing is that the ones you suggest are a bit too long for my taste - my commute is 25-30 min long, so I prefer a 30 min max podcasts.
I really like GaryVee for example, he really helps me put things in perspective and I can focus on my grind. I guess everybody has preferences. I also like listening to Tony Robbins.

I will definitely check them out, though. Thank you for sharing !

P.S. This Seminar from Jim Rohn is a life-changer.

I can see that. I like longer ones for some reason. Maybe just because I have that much time while I'm driving and shoeing horses.

I'll check those out. Thanks for the recommendations. I have been meaning to check out GaryVee. I've seen him on YouTube.

You definitely should ! I think he is likable, but it really depends on your state of mind. For example my father did not like him, he said that GaryVee is more suitable for younger people. When you have the chance, give him a try - Also I am very curious what an experienced podcaster like you would say about him. Thank you :)

So would you recommend listening to his podcast? I remember listening to him on Joe Rogan's podcast and Chris Ryan's Tangentially Speaking. Chris Ryan has the academic chops to push back on his more outlandish claims. He was a lot of fun to listen to though.

I would definitely recommend listening. It just depends on your taste and interests. I find it pretty interesting so far.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Is there any episode in particular you'd recommend to start off with?

Not necessarily. I just went all the way back to the first and started going through them all.

People always like to learn some dark or dirty stories. This is natural curiosity.

True. It is possibly at least a little redeeming when there is some intellectual take away rather than just brain candy.

Agree. And it is a very hard job for the interviewer to find a suitable interlocutor. Cause the vast majority of antisocial people are not ready for some intellectual conversation.

In the case of Thaddeus's Unregistered Podcast, he specifically looks for intellectuals with a renegade character.

i love your writing skills , going by what you have already written you love to be challenged to be kept on point ,constantly thinking of what is not so obvious , i like that.

I appreciate that. I do think being challenged is important and it keeps things interesting. My opinion is that my beliefs have changed a lot so far, so why wouldn't they change again?

I also agree of with you.And your thought is really amazing.
thanks for sharing this post.

Thank you for the information diggndeeper.com! This sounds like a great way to get into current events and investment ideas. Seems like it has helped you! Haha. I will check it out. Sounds like the unregistered podcasts are just gossip.

Oh, no. That's the point. This isn't gossip at all. It is an intellectual journey into the taboo. I find it pretty interesting.

Oh. Haha. Sorry. I did favorite Thaddeus and School Sucks so I can hear some of it. Sounds interesting. Taboo can indeed be good!

Seems I missed a post!

I have you set to autovote on SteemAuto and it has been having trouble. I combine this with Steemworld and use it as kind of a main activity feed. Since the autovote failed I didn't see the post.

Ah well. Found it now. I'm interested in everything anarchy related so I'll add them to my list. I've heard of School Sucks but not The Unregistered Podcast.

Thanks for the post. Hopefully I'll see your next post.
