Visit the Historical Temple; Santo Domingo and Coricancha

Santo Domingo is the convent with the Church of Coricancha in it which considered the most sacred place for the people living in Cusco, Peru. It was one of the most known and essential buildings to the empire in the earlier times. The name of Coricancha means “Temple of the Sun” in English. During the time of the conquest, the temple was looted and destroyed. However, when the colonial structure came into existence Santo Domingo, then the foundations were set again for this temple. The location of this temple is at the El Sol Av. And Santo Domingo Street intersection. It is open every day from 8 am till 5 pm for the people to visit whether they want to see the historical building or to worship.
During the times of civilization, the Coricancha used to be a prior place for the people and indicated that this place is full of gold. You can see the sun temple in Coricancha with having the Inca mummies. It is one of the best archeological sites with the mastery work of history. The temple of the sun is in the form of vertical, which can be viewed from the outside as well. You can see it clearly from the wall which is outside the building.
Along with that, people used to worship the stars in this temple. The people of Inca had a belief that stars were there on the sky to make them smile, and they would worship it to pay back the smile to it. Moreover, you can also view the rainbow enclosure which comes from the sun rays. It enters all the rooms of the temple with covering it entirely. The rooms look like they are filled with gold and reflect in seven different colors. It was thought to be a miracle for the Inca due to which they used to visit it quite often. There is also a ceremonial fountain which was made out of hand. It has a complete set of water deposit which was made by the Inca. There are some rooms which have three doors access and known as inti illapa. It was among the rituals of Inca to worship there and pay off the sacrifices of the people from history.
This temple also has a gallery which you can view named as “temple of the moon.” There are scared alleys and doors, which are the representation of the culture maintained in Peru. You can learn about the history of this place, so do not miss out on it.
