Casa de Fierro is a colossal residence made of iron at Iquitos, Peru. It is situated between Prospero street and Putumayo street, exactly facing towards the major square. It was built in the nineteenth century. La Casa de Fierro is considered Peru's one of the best piece and example of its civil architecture. You are recommended to visit the area along with a guide who can assist you in realizing the worth and value of this historical structure of iron. If you visit inside you will see rectangular shaped iron sheets used for the purpose of plaster. All this precious work is efforts of Gustave Eiffel, a French architect, popularly known for his work on the architecture of Eiffel Tower.

Another quote regarding its manufacturing says that is was first produced in Belgian workshops and was a result of the efforts of Les Forges DAiseau. This complete structure was later bought by Anselmo del Aguila, commonly known as rubber baron, in 1889. This huge structure was moved through the jungle with the help of a hundred men who carried different bits and pieces of this house after dismantling. Later the structure was rebuilt in 1890 at the place where it currently exposes its beauty.
The administration of Casa de Fierro is in the hands of Club Social de Iquitos. You would have found a restaurant on the second floor of the building if you had visited in the past. But now it has been closed. No matter which tourism guide book you follow, you will surely find Casa de Fierro in it. It is highly recommended to visit here if you love old and classic places.
