The museum - "MACT: Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Tamaulipas" is one of your attraction you have to visit while you are in Matamoros.
The museum was constructed in 1969, and it was something like a craft center. But so many years later, in 2002, after several transformations,
it was opened as the Museum of Contemporary Art of Tamaulipas, shortened MACT.
As said above, it is more than a museum, it provides an enhancement, and it is a place where you can enjoy different disciplines of art.
If you wonder how the museum looks like, well, it is an open-air theater with a central patio and a lobby. There are 3 exhibition halls, artistic workshops and also a bookstore.
There are many social events such as dance presentations, stage shows, reading club, book presentation, lectures, conferences and so much more. It is really “all in one culture time.”

The open hours of the museum are:

• Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
• Sundays from 12:00 am to 4:00 pm
