I'VE NEVER EVEN SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE - HIDDEN TREASURES OF SILVER & GOLD
Thankfully, my @little-peppers are observant and cautious.
Since Black Widows and Scorpions like to hide under boards around here, my children have learned to look around a bit before picking things up. Today, we found a chrysalis like we've never seen before. It looked incredibly silver at first, but lit up with gold when we put some light on it. I thought of @goldmatters and MENE right away, but as it turns out, this was just a caterpillar awaiting its flight clearance. Enjoy the photos, and let me know if you know what kind this one is.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Hey @papa-pepper, It looks like the Euptoieta claudia, the variegated fritillary butterfly crysalis. Very beautiful what a great discovery 😍have a look here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euptoieta_claudia
Wow! I think you've nailed it. We definitely have butterflies that look like that flying around here! Why am I not surprise that you knew?
😉
It's out! You were correct!
Sweet! How cool to see it emerge ❤️
YESSS!! That reminds me of one of these guys Papa p! https://steemit.com/mene/@goldmatters/gold-bug-mene
RESTEEMED!
Yeah - YOU'VE TOTALLY GOT 'THE GOLD BUG'
Right???
Do they actually sting you if you touch them? I’ve seen some similar looking caterpillars here, but they’re mostly all for show.

That thing looks like some sort of alien toy.
A reverse image search suggested it might be euphydryas anicia but who knows how accurate that is.
Pretty cool! :)
Ah, right, the ol' reverse image search!
What a beautiful chrysalises! Silver and gold. Perhaps you will be around for a photo session when the butterfly emerges...
