Bears vs Gadgets. @sweetjoy's 24hour Writing Contest Entry
Coach Madison was truly afraid for the first time in his life. He had finally recruited the best baseball players from all over the world. These were teens that looked more like adults with the best baseball skills period. They were rough and tough and all that good stuff. The problem was the other team were so good that the odds of them winning were low. Since alien teams were allowed to compete in 2019, the game of baseball had changed drastically.
The rules of baseball were the same but the abilities of the aliens gave them advantages that made it hard for humans not to cheat. Usually when aliens play humans they can do super duper dives, catches and throws. They can read minds and body language. Soon humans were loosing every game they had against alien teams. People and television networks wanted to see alien team vs alien team baseball after a while. When humans competed against aliens the networks turned on the blooper sound effects. This game today had to be different.
They had to beat this last team or humans would go down in history as losers!!! Wankwawaaa.
Coach told the team in the locker room the strategy, techniques and m/o(mode of operation)
They were to use reverse psychology, no telepathy and play their best. So far, it wasn't working. It was the ninth inning and the score was 3-0 Gadgets. The Bears were almost in tears as they new the people were dissapointed. Just then coach Mulaf of the Gadgets called for a time out. He looked at coach Madison and said in his mind
Lets talk Madison.
Coach Madison walked over to Mulaf with his chest out. Like a peoud human would.
What is it Mulaf?
Telepathically Mulaf told him with visions that he was gonna let them win. Mulaf used English and said aloud to the coach.
You remember Sam? On the hornets? He got hit in the head with a baseball. They were playing robots vs human game. The team Roballs are fierce. That ball that hit him was going 132mph. The robots have no feelings of remorse of course and people were upset. Now Sam recovered only because he has alien dna. His mother is fine and I've been abducting her since she turned 21. Sam is my son. I want Sam to play again when he fully recovers. If only aliens can play baseball he can't play.
Understood Mulaf, but what do I get out of this?...
Mulaf laughed at Madison. He saw that he was an opportunist.
Mulaf turned and walked away.
All the bases were loaded with bears. Pitcher number 67 on the Gadgets throws a ball. Pitcher spits and throws a high ball. All of a sudden the crowd quiets down as the pitcher throws a perfect pitch hoping for a strike ...but "CRACK" went that bat against the ball and up in the air it went. The crowd went wild. Roar!! The players loaded on the bases all came home plus the hitter makes four runs. The Bears win!!! The kids were estatic. Jumping and yelling and pouring gatorade on eachother. This was the best day ever for them and for baseball.
Madison went up to Mulaf and said Telepahlically
Thanks Mulaf...I almost lost my job. Now I can provide for my family.
Mulaf laughed and said
Remember when they were in that car accident?.....you are infertile Madison. I've been abducting you wife since she was 21..
