Covered this Hangout

#1 w/ $12.30 -- @Peerplays

Jonathon Bahai of Peerplays thanks beyondbitcoin for opportunity to earn from being transparent and giving updates on his project. He also gives his thoughts on how other projects could benefit from liberal use of such a service. Naturally, the fuzzy abides.
The price of Peerplays seems to be going up since the testnet went live. Before leaving it to Michael, he answers Fuzzy’s question regarding Graphene’s visibility and tells us that China is where much of the investment in crypto is currently going. Fuzzy believes that STEEM may be bringing more people to crypto, who will then realize at some point in the future that Graphene was a hidden weapon in the arsenal of Peerplays and other chains.

Michael Maloney joins to give updates on Peerplays from the week. He talks about the importance of publishing feeds in peerplays. Additionally, we talk about the system requirements for being a witness. Michael gives interested witness candidates the Peerplays witnesses a means of connecting with help to start learning the technical aspects of becoming a witness. If interested, visit Peerplays Chat. Listen in for more!

Check out the Peerplays Homepage for more info on Peerplays including how to join the testnet!

#5 w/ $2.98 @intelliguy

Though blockchains are very powerful, they are generally based on open sourced and reproducible code. As such, oftentimes when a developer truly innovates, there are coins that are created by simply altering a few parameters (or maybe just the name!) and then restarted as a new chain.
Intelliguy talks today about how the consistent cloning of coins for profit is unnecessarily dividing the communities working on cryptocurrencies and thus unnecessarily creating duplication of efforts. He posits that these people are going to make it too difficult for grass roots currencies to establish the foothold needed before the legacy system builds its own solutions that may be philosophically opposed to the purpose Satoshi and others had in mind for cryptocurrencies.
This brings up conversation that evolves into the discussion of the potential positives as well as an acknowledgment of these and other negatives.
@brindleswan, @cryptoprometheus and others join in.

Lately, I'm getting tired of FUD in cryptocurrency, and it happens too often. FUD is fear, uncertainty and death to spread news in hopes of changing followers, coin price, and project interest. ~ @intelliguy

#3 w/ $2.49 -- @good-karma

@good-karma joins to ask the community for continued feedback on the user experience of the eSteem mobile phone wallet in the Google Play Android and IOS marketplaces. If you want to check it out, Download Android Here. For iOS users, Download IOS App. Enjoy a constantly increasing feature set!
He informs listeners and live attendees that he has made available the following features/changes/fixes:

  • bug fixes and performance improvement
  • Profile cover image changing
  • Improvement on feeds navigation
  • Improvement on followers, fix and follow functions
  • "Tap on Amount" to see payout details of each post.
  • "Tap on Numbers" to see voters info (reputation, vote weight) of each post
  • Filter bar auto navigation when swiped on the view
  • login/logout caching fix

We then discuss usability and potential ways to safely make it easier for users to log in using the app. The discussion moves to how pins and qr codes could ease the process.
The discussion turns to the potential of dynamic vote power %'s settings for users based on average number of votes per day.

#4 w/ $2.46 -- @virtualgrowth & @sychochica of SteemPrentice

"Steemprentice Mentoring Initiative is a group to essentially crowdsource help from veteran users for those that are new, frustrated, or just wanting to learn." ~@virtualgrowth

@virtualgrowth & @sykochica join us to give an overview of the Steemprentice group they have spearheaded along with a handful of friends, but focus primarily on discussing their work on SteemLand.com, where people can own and build on their own land. SteemLand even has spots for advertising inside!
There are big ideas to use it as a means of helping to educate others about cryptocurrency and have events in our own virtual events! If you would like to join ing, the prerequisite is to download YRGrid.

This session veers into marketing and legalities of terms "digital currency" and "cryptocurrency" with Rodgrigo from BlockPay chiming in to discuss. These are the ways to use beyondbitcoin hangouts to plug your work, while helping other projects by being part of the discussion. Thanks Rodrigo!

#5 w/ $2.21 -- @pro4never

@Pro4never (aka Chris Cook) w/ the #Jewels reminds everyone of Conquerheroes! Want to Play Conquer Heroes and stress test it? Do so at the Downloads Page. A reminder that Jewels integration is now complete: Deposit, Purchase through exchanges w/ bitcoin, Purchase with Paypal!
Chris announces the addition of jewels to a highly reputed digital currency exchange Bittrex.
They have been working on User Friendliness, expansion of current systems via a web interface that can be used to connect with various interfaces and services offered in the future. This is intended to extend functionalities across multiple devices so services can be offered as mobile apps.
@brindleswan asks about potential to work with @peerplays, @jewels states that it is something they will need to look into as they watch new games being built on top of the blockchain.

Look forward to real world Jewels currencies to the winners of special promotional events like the tournaments planned to launch soon! Fuzzy tells @pro4never to create a limited addition beyondbitcoin blade to unlock unlimited coverage in the future.
Much more in this hangout! Please join and listen in!

Look for the @jewels tweets on how to join their jewels centric meetings on Discord on their site! They thank beyondbitcoin for our help getting the word out about their project and promise to visit us again someday in the future with important updates on the jewels project...which may include the beyondbitcoin blade.

As always the content and format is excellent and a credit to officialfuzzy. Keep up the good work guys!

@officialfuzzy Love your idea for getting the most out of your vote percentage! To build on that, the app could say, You have voted an average of x times per day over the past 7 days. To maximize your voting power you should not vote above y%.

Thank you and keep up all the great work!

Thanks for getting this out. I know how it is a lot of work. :)

@intelliguy I totally understand and agree things need to be simple for the end user. However, doesn't having lots of little currencies prevent large-scale corruption and control mechanisms?

Interesting how similar this discussion is to Mr. Robot's eCoin issue. Standards will be developed regardless. The issue is who is going to set the standards? We need to get together so that we create the standards. Reminds me of the video game industry deciding to self-regulate through ESRB instead of having the government regulate them.

Yes. That is going to happen. Actually kind of what intelliguy was talking about. ;)
