Few of us have the luxury of flying first class in a world of more than 6 billion people. But those that do will have several more reasons to do so after they read this article about new upgrades to Emirates first class accomodations.

In a recent article published by The Telegraph entitled 'The first class cabin war: Emirates unveils 'zero gravity' flat beds inspired by Nasa' they showed off a few technological marvels of the new Emirates first class experience.

Fully enclosed private suites with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors, "virtual windows" and Mercedes-Benz style interiors with seats offering a “zero gravity” position said to be inspired by Nasa technology are among the new “game-changing” cabin designs unveiled by Emirates as part of a multimillion dollar upgrade across all of its Boeing 777 cabins.

Many customers will be rushing to book their seats just for the chance to be one of the first passengers to try out their 'zero gravity' flat beds. This is insanely luxurious and one has to ask if someone should even feel guilty for travelling in this manner?

According to a statement made by former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson, the zero gravity position is “better than laying on a fairytale cloud."

The latest first class cabins will also feature several elements inspired by the German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz, including leather seating, a high-tech control system and mood lighting.

This is an industry game changer and for better or worse, other airlines will have to take notice and step up their game!

Although not quite as luxurious as first class, business class seating has received a luxury upgrade as well as seen in the picture below!

The design and shape of seats in its business class cabins have been modelled after the interior of a modern sports car with a “sleek overall look and feel”, designed with diamond stitch pattern on its full leather cover and an ergonomically designed headrest, the company describes.

If my company was flying me to some exotic location for a business meeting, I certainly wouldn't complain if they booked me one of these seats!

As the haves and have nots get further apart we will most likely see airlines going above and beyond to outdo their competitors in this highly competitive first class airline market. Considering airline prices for first class international flights are commonly $5000 or more, there is a lot of money to be made in this niche and airlines are fighting tooth and neck to get it!
