What is the Difference between Short Sightedness and Far Sightedness? How can this be Corrected through Glasses??
Hi guys! I'm here again and in today's post, I will be talking about a very vital part of our body, the eye.
Virtually everyone of us see people around with spectacles these days. But do you know why these people need glasses & how it is rectified with lenses? Many of us don’t really know all this.
But a curious mind should know. And it’s not that some haven’t tried, It’s just that right information is not available which can tell people in simple language what it means, this i bring to you today. stay tuned!
Well…. Human eye is one of most marvelous things about human body. The Eyes and Brain synchronizes and we get to see the things we see including reading this post.
How do we see things?
This is a question that many will ask. Some believe it is of a mystic phenomenon, others believe its Supernatural, But here is the simple scientific truth! --
We see things when light from any object falls on our eye.
There is a convex lens in human eye made of tissues. This lens focuses the light at a sport called retina. An image is formed on retina. This image is read by the brain and that is how we see things.
Now, why do we need glasses?
To see things clearly the image should form on retina only, as brain can read the image formed here only.
In some people, the image is formed before retina- Myopia (called short sightedness) while in others, image forms after retina- Hyperopia (far sightedness).
How it gets corrected using lens!
When a lens is put before the eyes, it can result in any of these two things-
- Either diverge the light (concave lens- myopia), Or
- Focus the light (convex lens- Hyperopia).
The power of lens is set such that the light again falls on retina and correct image is read by the brain.
In Summary,
- Image formed on retina is an inverted (upside-down) image. Human brain auto-corrects it and understands the right image.
* A person with Myopia can see things close to eye clearly. But, distant things, he cannot see. While in Hyperopia, person cannot see things close to eye but he can see distant things.
