Soaring High Over Laquin and the Glacial High Plateau section

We are but specks of dust on the surface of this planet. Comparable to germs on our skin. We are so incredibly minuscule. I am reminded of this fact every single day by the birdcam's ability to make everything look so small.

A beautiful Saturday morning flight, while the winds were still calm, to really stretch the wings.

Amazing to see the ridges and valleys and then to go look at Google maps and compare to see what I was photographing and with a bit of analysis and searching, I can find the matching topography in Google Maps.

Apparently, in the past, these mountains were logged completely bare. Which supported a healthy town of near 2000 at the height of the logging. But once the mountains were bare, the industry left, and so did the people. As part of FDR's New Deal, the CCC or the Civilian Conservation Corps, came in an replanted a whole bunch of trees and maintained the land for some years before also abandoning the location.

Now, as you can see in the photos, there only but a few cabins in the pleasantly hidden valley. Isolated from any farmlands or towns inside the ridges of the glacial high plateau, there isn't much to hear during certain hours of the day. But this day, the sound of a billion buzzing bees excited the valley, at least for half an hour.
