You said several things that deserve response

1. Actually, we don't create our reality like a painter creates a drawing, but rather we choose from multi potential realities.
2. Those concepts that the mind yearns to understand are real only as long as one chooses them. Karma included.
3. Enlightenment is not about having but about being. The western world praise achievements but that doesn't mean westerns are enlightened. Conversely, poor and lack are not prerequisites for enlightenment either.
