Suspension Bridge Park; My Favorite Bridge And Why I Was A Little Disappointed

@mickeybeaves and I visited Capilano Suspension Bridge Park last week, Don’t let the pictures deceive you, the bridges are not that high up, the suspension bridge is probably a couple hundred feet from the mainly dried out mild river below. I was a little disappointed that the pictures on the website were a little misleading, but over all it was fun to walk the bridges, see some of the wildlife and visit the park just to check it out for ourselves!

The first bridge we went over was the suspension bridge, stretched across the canyon dipping down a couple hundred feet above the river below. Everyone swayed and held on to the rails of the bridge as many carefully made their way across. As someone who grew up on sail boats and the ocean it just reminded me of the feeling of a boat drifting with the waves, and since I have sealegs I felt very comfortable walking without holding on to anything.

The second bridge we took to was the tree top walk, this was the bridge I was most disappointed with, it was maybe halfway up the trees maybe 80ft off the ground and just took you in a small half circle. I was hoping to be higher up in the trees, since exploring some of the tallest trees in the world such as the redwoods, I have wanted to get to climb up a towering tree and the photos on the website definitely upplayed what the walk actually was.

After the tree top bridge we were on our way to the cliff walk and as we passed by their man made pound there was a heron hanging out along the water, of course lots of people spotted him and stopped to take pictures as the weary bird looked around, movements implying he was ready to take flight at any moment to escape danger.

The last bridge was probably my favorite the cliff walk, this bridge was held up by some strong cables that were soldered into the clifface, the bridge took you around the cliff and provided some beautiful veiws of the forest. The bridge led off to some viewpoints boxed in by glass and the metal being messed underneath your feet so you could look down as well.

Once you finish the cliff walk you are routed back to the park and on the way you pass by an active display of water erosion on rocks. It shows rocks at 15years, 25years and 50years of erosion, it was honestly very interesting to get to see the progression in person.

I absolutely hate when touristy places do things like that. When they're misleading. But you would never really know unless you actually go visit yourself. Your photos are still beautiful, and the bridge looks super cool!

Yes, exactly! It was somewhat disappointing, but we were glad we went and saw the place because that is the only way to really know if those places are worth it lol
