He's full of shit. They definitely DO monitor audio, most definitely, 100% for sure. They've been doing it for quite a long time now.
Phones HAVE to be monitoring audio. I do get targeted ads that I've never typed about or anything yet have spoken of with my voice. It has happened way too many times for it to be a coincidence.
I've heard from many people who still use facebook that they've also encountered this. Most of the time they notice it if its a new ad which is really "random" like the cat food one in the example above.
It's way too rampant for it to not be true . . .
Makes me want to smash my phone and get an old school Nokia.
