Sunday in Bulgarovo area
Today is Palm Sunday and my friend Lily invited me to celebrate her name day of the villa zone near the town Bulgarovo.
The place was lovely, bathed in spring colors.
The Rapeseed had blossomed and was colored the area in yellow.
Our friendly hosts were expecting us with a warm welcome.
We played volleyball, ate delicious dishes and a cake.
We walked around the pebble paths on which a white and purple lilac had blossomed.
It was sad how many abandoned villas we found.
When we return, we visited the temple "St. Atanasii" in the town Bulgarovo.
The church "St. Atanasii" in Bulgarovo is a temple that has its long and interesting history. It was founded 150 years ago, even during the Ottoman domination, when the settlement was a Greek population.
He was the most beautiful church in the whole Burgas region until the Liberation. The church in Bulgarovo is said to be one of the oldest in the region of Burgas. Its construction began in the Renaissance, in 1851. It was completed in 1854. It is a one-nave basilica in architectural style.
"St. Atanasii "is decorated with magnificent carvings and icons by Tryavna masters. The Church-Historical Museum in Sofia and the crypt of the temple "St. Al. Nevsky "preserved some of the best samples of the Bulgarian icon, taken from the village of Bulgarovo.
Abandoned and half-destroyed in the years of socialism, the church "St. Atanasii "has been completely renovated and reconstructed thanks to donations, labor and funds mainly to citizens from the town of Bulgarovo, individuals and companies from the region.
