My Actifit Report Card: July 12 2019

Another hot day to run and a hilly route made for a tough and tiring midday run but the miles were well earned and productive. Be glad to either have some cooler and drier days come in or get up into the hills on the trails through the woods. Have to keep on pushing myself to improve and get up the miles as the possibility of an ultra will be upon me before too long. Will power walk most of it but the better my baseline endurance the better, that way easier to concentrate on the mental fatigue aspect of the race. Tomorrow kinda off day to spend some family time with my wife down at a gem and minerals show to pick up some pretty stones to work on then back to my 3 days volunteering at the hatchery. Nice to be able to look at myself and know I'm improving and that's a good feeling. Would be great if there was more progress but this 60 year old body just isn't as robust as it was back in my ultramarathon days.
Figured I"d throw in some photos from one of my early forays in a trail ultra - the 2009 Old Dominion 100. Not too great with a DNF around 77 miles. Makes todays hills seem trivial in comparison. What fun!!!!
