Improving Lactate Threshold (My Actifit Report Card: December 13 2018)
Rainy and cold day here at Barcelona.
Perfect for facing a good Running Workout.
This time long intervals.
3 repetitions of 2000m with 2’15” of Recovery in between.
But before I did a couple of kms as a warmup. Everything as I said while raining.
The target paces were: 3’50”/km the first, 3’40”/km the second and 3’30”/km the third but... seems I did faster.
- 1st 2000m in 7’32” so 3’46”/km pace
- 2nd in 7’15” so 3’37”/km
- 3rd in 7’01” so 3’30”/km ... this last one is the only within the planned target.
Another thing that is good is that my Garmin watch has detected an improvement in my Lactate Threshold. This is calculated automatically by the watch and the level of uncertainty of the measure is high...
For instance, the first 2000m interval I did at a Heart frequency level below the calculated threshold, which for the watch is 166 bpm and 3’59”/km pace. Instead, I did those couple of kms at an average Fc of 160 bpm anda maximum of 167, the average pace has been also slower, 3’46”/km... so, according to my knowledge and my experience, my current threshold should be around 166 bpms and around 3’50”/km pace ( knowing my historical data and Lactate tests from the past)
Anyway, it has been a very good training, done in the middle of the most intense week of the plan. I can forecast a good performance in my next race.
