CWC 2019 and My Actifit Report Card: June 21 2019
Another low scoring thriller match today between England and Sri Lanka from Leeds. Sri Lanka beat England by 20 runs. Who would have thought so?
Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka needed the spark from young Avishka Fernando who made quick 49 runs and the partnership between experienced Angelo Matthews with Dhanunjaya De Silva helped Sri Lanka reach a defendable score of 232.
Chasing 232, England lost all their top order batsmen to good old Malinga. He and the spinner de Silva broke a England’ spine. Ben Stokes brilliant knock of 82 went in vain and England were all out for 212.
Much needed win for Sri Lanka and this makes coming matches more interesting.
It was a busy day at the office. I went round the park after the match finished. I managed to watch the last 45 minutes of the match which was very entertaining.
