Today's training was interval running:
12 fast interval runs with pace under 3:50/km.
- 1 km run.
- 2 minutes walking break
- 10 x 500m run with 2 minutes walking breaks between.
- 2 minutes walking break
- 1km run

It's more of a normal interval I guess. Although that 1k at the beginning and end would kind of make it fartlek.
Fartlek is more unpredictable I think. I sometimes do it - I just go out running without plan changing pace every 250m-500m-750m-1000m with different intensity of pace varying between slow job to almost sprint. It's less boring than just normal interval training.
