My Actifit Report Card: December 19 2019 Autograss build part 3

So once we got it onto the track we had a few weekends fault finding. An intermittent misfire ruined our first 3 weekends, which we finally traced and found a broken wire to the throttle positioning sensor. For the first full season we had a lot of suspension adjustments to make, and after a full season, the biggest change we made was a gearbox swap from the standard Volvo 5 speed to a Ford Focus st 6 speed. Although the car is light enough and produces a huge amount of torque, only 2 gears are needed, on a slightly greasy surface we only use one. 3rd gear is now a 92mph gear when hitting the Rev limiter, compared to the volvos 102mph. The car will comfortably spin the wheels to that on a standing start, but when the track is very dry, 2nd gear is needed, and it just about lifts the front wheels off the ground.

Although we considered our first season to be successful, we were very much in the 2nd half of the pack. But reliability was very good, and overall pace is something that will improve in time. Our season was not without incidents though. A spin at turn one at Gloucester sent the car backwards into the Armco, which is the biggest impact the car has had to date. Heavy damage to the shell, and left rear suspension. Along with me climbing over the top of another racer in turn 3 at a different meeting when I took the car out. This only broke a couple of suspension mounts, and we had it repaired for heat 2.
