Gear Testing Time!
Trial and Error time again! Some days you really just MUST check how the status is of everything that you are using. In this case I am talking about testing two things:
Actifit and my outdoor snow gear
At the end of this week it is time to get cracking on the snowed slopes. Now nerdy as I am I like to know my statistics on what I did that day (and no I am not talking about seeing how many cups of gluhwein I downed by the end of the night), so that is where the mobile devices come in. Usually I would always use * the sporttracker app* to see the distance that I have covered, how much altitude changes i went through and my highest speeds.
Well, why not see if this is possible in a blockchain kind of form. So it was time for my first hike with actifit to see what this can do for me. First conclusions: It works perfect but to be a super useful app for me it will need some extra features
- I have to fill in everytime my posting key when I use it
- There is no options for ski /board
- I would love to see this GPS compatible so I can see covered distance and altitude
I really think enhancing these kinds of things would even make this more of a useful app. I think while skiing I will still use my sporttracker app on the side with this one together, and it would be lovely if I could ditch that one.
And my outdoor gear?
While I had the perfect testing circumstances, because I hiked loads uphill AND it started to actively rain. Now this is exactly what you want to test, because of the physical activity you want a breathable jacket that will not create and inner sauna (because when you stop your activity otherwise your sweat will freeze), but on the other hand it needs to be waterproof from the outside.
My jacket is an old Burton snowboard jacket that I had bought once in a ridiculous discount, and it has still not disappointed me even after using it for 11 years already. The one thing is to keep it good is...maintenance. Wash it with a Tec-wash and then impregnate it with a water resistant spray. And that is what I saw today, this needs to be done before I really hit the mountains again. All the other snow gear I got new just recently, because I had found out that I had thrown nearly everything away before moving to the Caribbean. But the rest of the stuff, it worked like a charm! Testing the skis will be done on the mountain, you can’t really do that anywhere else.
So: Ready to hit the slopes!!
Hard to think of you in the snow, my dear!! Haha.... here it is "winter" and I am in a long sleeved t-shirt and it is still 26C at 10pm. haha... Dropping to a FREEZING 18C tonight and back to 34C tomorrow. The dapps are definitely the future - curious about your ongoing experiences with it. Well the thing is, earlier in the week I was listening to PAL radio and there was this guy talking about that these kinds of dapps are going to be key to the Steem blockchain of being a success....so the thing is, we ALL want them to succeed because that is good for all, so why as well not spread them in use a bit more! :)
But really, if actifit would take over all of those sporttracker functions i would be totally hooked !
yeah....18 at night...damn I can only dream about how that was :D But the funny thing ofcourse is, until half a year agao, I also considered that as half freezing hahahahahaha.
