Ah, good question. Partly it was because I was up for three hours after midnight wrapping presents and arranging the tree. Those steps counted for the new day. Also, I spent the afternoon cleaning my house and doing laundry and running around arranging candles before our guests came. So it all added up to a lot of steps that day!
