What it’s like filming at Buckingham Palace (sort of)steemCreated with Sketch.

In previous years I have filmed the SkyBet annual get together called The Gathering.
The event is corporate thing, but is a celebration of the business growing, a thank you and an opportunity for staff to learn about different aspects of the business with interesting talks happening throughout the day.

Last year I shot and edited this video, which is a highlights of the one day, hosted at an airfield in Leeds:

TODAY however, I’ve spent the last 12 hours filming their new event, this time held at... Buckingham Palace!

(Well, not the actual Buckingham Palace but this is pretty damn close)
This place is a replica of Buckingham Palace from late 1800’s.

It’s a film set that has been built and used for the TV series Victoria.
(I’ve not seen the show, but judging by this set it must be staggeringly cool because the level of detail and grandeur is incredible)

SkyBet have made some slight alterations to bring it in to the 21st century..

I’ve been running around all day in this place with my camera shooting all the details of staff and guests having a ball.
I’ve had all the rooms (4 in total) rigged up with a video camera as well as two of us videographers darting around from room to room capturing the action.

My feet are burning and my hips are an aching mess.
The Actifit app says I’ve done 12,000 steps but I’m sure if I had a FitBit on it might more accurately say 20,000.

It’s been a great day though, and I’m looking forward to editing these many hours down to about 3 minutes :)

You are one lucky man. I need a job that takes me to places like this. it is awesome. ok it's not the real buckingham palace but to replicate something from the 1800s says that someone has an eye for detail.
Get in the bath and soak your bones dude, maybe your feet could do with a rub :D

i know that that is hours of footage so can't really plan all of it, so do you start and end "all" your clips with a pan to make that transition or you make some random fast pans to use in edits?
