Taho: Love It or Hate It
I used to not eat this Filipino breakfast treat...
We call this taho, made from soybean curd and sugary syrup and sago seeds. I used to find it disgusting so I never dared to try this.
However, after having been away from the Philippines I have learned to try many various local dishes and taho is now one of them.
The taho vendor peddles his merchandise on foot- carrying his 2 barrels on his shoulder. He has plastic cups of different sizes for different prices--Php 5, 10 and 20. We decided to just use our own glasses. This much is Php 10.
My kids love it!
Quite amusingly, my kiddos loved taho. I never really thought they would.
The taho could have given them lots of energy for the day- they stressed my mom out when I left the 3 of them with her as my sis and I went for grocery shopping.
These kids just love to play outdoors. No matter how simple, they just run around and chase chickens or turkey. They conspire with each other to trap my aunt's cat. They give belly rub to our Chuchay, the pomeranian.
We've got barely a week left here in the Philippines. We've been through a series of "unfortunate" events and this is not really the vacation we wished for.
However, seeing how simple things give my children joy.. Hearing them tell that they love it here, makes me feel a lot better.
It could have been a lot greater, but things happen. I just keep on praying that soon, everything will be OK...
