Ulog and Actifit Report Card: January 15 2019: Users Think They Are Smart pt2
What are the chances I would find dumb problems two days in a row? Ok, pretty good. But what are the chances I would encounter a nearly identical printer issue on a totally different printer in a totally different area? And then what are the chances I would encounter this near-identical problem the day after I named my post "Users Think They Are Smart pt1"? I wasn't intending to make a pt2 on the very next day, but I was secretly hoping...
Anyway, after my walk through of the ticket counter and then verifying my Elmer's glue plus tape trick was successfully holding yesterday's printer together (should have taken a picture), I went to the concourse. What came next was 3 hours of several little annoying things leading up to several trips back and forth along the concourse, and culminating in the discovery of a printer that keeps jamming for no reason. Again.
Now it's not my printer, so I could have left it. But I was feeling compassionate for our contract team members who don't have an IT department that's worth anything. I don't even know what state their IT people are located in! But because of this I can't really blame them for trying to do it themselves. So the name of this post is a bit unjustified, but it matched yesterday so well.
On this printer the paper would jam right at the end, just like the other one. And a user had decided to remove the fuser, just like the other one, and drop it on the floor because it's still over 350 degrees, just like the other one. And broke some of the plastic, just like the other one. Oh and the first was a Dell and the second was a Xerox, but the fusers looked identical!
Unfortunately I was unable to figure this one out. It acted like the same issue, but the piece that was broken off the first printer was surprisingly intact on the second...
And then I went back to the office for a late late breakfast but had to go back to the concourse for more running around.
Got out over an hour late too.
