My Actifit Report Card: October 14 2019 😿

in #actifit5 years ago (edited)

Monday.

It started off as a beautiful day. It ended horribly and this is going to be a really awkward post to write.

I had a vague idea about how I was going to praise the beautiful weather and the amazing show of colours autumn is bringing to the city.

I made a trip into town to get some faulty electronics replaced and the weather felt like summer deciding to come back for a few more days.

I came by an old googly friend who has long lost his eyes, although you can still make out where the adhesive left some marks. It's kind of cool to have all these googly friends all over town.

I'd usually offer an SBI bounty to whomever digs up a link to the original post, but that feels completely wrong knowing how this post is going to end today.

In the evening I went for another stroll, to hunt some pokemon and occupy some gyms before the day ends. I even managed to catch a shiny Barboach and things were looking like a great day was coming to a good end.

It actually seemed to get even better when I met one of my feline neighbours on the way home. A black fluffy friend whom I've seen around a few times lately.

This is where the story will take an awful twist. If you don't want to ruin your mood, just look at the pictures and don't read any further.

I wasn't sure if I should include any of this in the post to be honest. But I started these actifit blogs with the idea to reflect on the day and maybe writing this out can actually help me cope with what happened?!

I've seen the cat around a bunch of times and she was usually caught up in hunting somewhere in the bushes. I tried to get her attention before, in order to get some cuddles and maybe a picture for these posts here, but she was never really interested in hooman contact. But she was calm tonight, sitting there on the wall, posing for the perfect picture.

I tried to get her attention, to get some eye-contact with the camera, but she seemed distracted by something off to the side and really didn't bother to give me much attention.

Then things suddenly happened very quickly. She jumped off the wall and onto the sidewalk in front of me. Her eyes fixed onto something in mid air off to the side from myself and she took a leap onto the road.

Onto the road and right into the front of a car that just happened to speed by in the wrong fucking moment.

I can't get the picture out of my head! Hit by the front wheel, slung around under the car and crushed by the rear wheel.

She was laying there for a couple of seconds, 10, maybe 30, I really can't say, twitching and gasping. A small puddle of blood forming under her head. I just stood there, frozen, staring.

The driver had stopped 50 meters down the road or so. He shouted: "Was that a cat?" and I replied something like "She just jumped off the wall!". The guy made an exaggerated shrug with his whole arms in the distance, hopped back into his car and drove off.

I was in shock and didn't know what to do. I picked her up and put her back on the sidewalk so that she at least wouldn't get run over again by the next car. Her body was till warm and her fur so soft.

I went home crying and called the police to let them know about the dead cat. They told me the driver had already called it in himself.

I don't quite know how to deal with all this. I'm still walking around the block again now, writing this post.

I feel guilty for what happened. She was often hunting along that wall, obviously without incident. I'm afraid it was my fault, selfishly trying to get her attention for some cuddles and a picture, that's what lead to this situation. I should have just left her alone.

This was her in her last moment, quite literally. What a beauty! It makes me cry to look at the picture.

I'm so fucking sorry!!

I don't know how I'll sleep tonight.

I'll just keep walking for a bit.

Thanks for your time!

Hey @fraenk, don’t do that, just don’t ask yourself anything, it just happened. Nothing but far away from your intention that things went that way...shit happens.
Me myself just felt the same not so long ago (I won’t tell you the whole story now) so I understand you perfectly.
The world it’s just dangerous, so dangerous for animals(and humans) around us, no way we can keep them safe all the time.
Just keep this: she didn’t suffered at all, I’m quite sure... the life signals you saw during her last moments where only automated ones due to the automated nervous system, no consciousness was present due to the hit and the subsequent shock. She didn’t suffered, period.
If something has to happen it must be quick as this, no pain.
I’m so sorry that you had to see this scene. Well life it’s hard at a times and these situations help us strengthen our souls because we in an uncertain future will have to deal with similar or even worst issues and maybe on humans. It’s tough and sad but life is this way.
Merit lies on overcoming hard situations and keep our souls clean and young to always look our world (and life) with different eyes.
You made it by finishing this awkward post and that’s your merit.
Love n’hugs ❤️

Thanks man! I'll be ok!

I don't think she suffered much and it could have probably ended much worse.

But it's going to take me a little while to deal with that whole experience and put those images into a mental drawer, to prevent them from randomly popping up in between all the other stuff scattered on the daily desk of thoughts.

Hugs and cuddles back to you!

Life is random. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes horrible. :(
Do not blame yourself.
