6/8 Timing?? Eh? Just Count To 6 Instead Of 4 !

Here is a fingerstyle composition written by one of my all-time favourite players, the great Ewan Dobson.
The timing is rather peculiar and has a 6/8 count.

That basically means just count to 6 instead of 4 :)

It's great how other people can unknowingly inspire you in different ways.
About 5 years ago I discovered his music online and after some deeper listening I was hooked.
I had never given the fingerstyle technique much thought or practice throughout the years but Ewan's way of playing is so rhythmical I had to give it a try.

I am pleased to say that after spending 2 years learning his music by ear, my new found skills gave me the confidence to write my own instrumental album and leave my unfulfilling 9 to 5 job in the UK and book my one-way plane ticket to a sunnier climate.

Here is Ewan's tune Spacewalk played in an open tuning of C minor.
Played on my balcony located in the middle of Toul Tom Poung in the city of Phnom Penh Cambodia.
The right-hand thumb patterns are fun to observe.
