Two Years On Steemit

in #account6 years ago

I just got an award for being a Steemit member for two years. That's cool. Thanks for the recognition.
My how time flies.

I've been purposely absent for awhile now. Not because I don't enjoy spending time here reading and viewing posts and even occasionally posting something of my own. But rather because I am afraid every time I fire up my old, (2002), Compaq laptop computer, it might well be the last time. It runs XP, no longer gets updates and sometimes this old thing just shuts itself off for no apparent reason.

As anyone can tell from reading some of my latest posts, I screwed up big-time with my password. The only reason I still have access to my account is that I never have logged out.
Somewhere along the line, I guess I changed my password and stored it in Firefox. But the problem was, I guess I didn't really change it because the one that is saved, isn't right.

Today, I recruited an expert in block-chain technology and he proclaimed that I am definitely screwed. So I officially give up.
I will continue to use this account as long as this old computer lasts, but in the meanwhile I am hoping that the powers that be on Steemit will be gracious enough to allow me to sign up for a new account.

I have recently been gifted a brand new Ipad from a dear friend who insisted that it was time that I join the 21st century. I have already applied for a new account with a new, but similar username and am crossing my fingers that I will be accepted.

For what it is worth, I have learned my lesson. It seems that in the course of my life, I have made it a habit of learning lessons the hard way. But at least I learn them well.

So, bottom line, frustration.jpgyou might not be seeing stevesmith much longer, but hopefully you'll be seeing stevesmithagain.

Don't sweat it, mang, you look stressed. I keep a cold copy of the key somewhere and a text file offline on a USB, I got into the habit of this when I started crypto trading.

I don't know if I will ever be able to wrap my head around the whole blockchain thing. But, should I be allowed another account, I will certainly back up my passwords every which way from Sunday from now on.

Well hello again fellow steamians, steemers, whatever.

He's baaaack. And his password is backed the f$#K up.

I still am very confused about how it works, but I ain't messing with it. I took a photograph of the password right after I received it this morning. I saved the photo(s) to another computer and a thumb drive. I am going to have it tattooed on my tummy tomorrow too. (just kidding)

Thank you Steemit BTW. For allowing me to start another account. I have learned my lesson.

What I don't understand is that just after photographing the password, I copied and pasted it into an email and sent it to myself. When I opened the email on my desktop, copied and pasted the password from the email to the login page, it told me it was the wrong password. ????
So, I typed it in manually. Wrong password.?????
So I typed in the password from the photograph. Wrong password.????
Finally, I typed in the posting key from the permission page and voila. Success. Someday somebody might explain all that to me. But in the meanwhile, I can get back to steeming. Big sigh of relief.

I am resteeming the last couple of the posts from my original account just for the heck of it. Hope that's okay.
