Abandoned, part 3
This places location I can share with you. It's pretty easy to find anyway because many have already shared the info in the internet. In 2010 the local newspaper even wrote about it and told everyone where it is. For the second time. There's not much to see. Ruins, graffiti and a small pond. Someone has used the pond as an oil barrel and car tire dump site and the rusty iron bridge to the island in the pond is covered with fallen trees so that it's very hard to even see the bridge if you don't know what you're looking for. And there's lots and lots of mosquitoes.
This is an old Roman spa. Actually it was meant to be a copy of a Roman spa. So it's not a Roman spa. But it is. It's in Tampere, Epilä district.
A man named Sixtus Syrjänen was one of the owners of Oy Sahanterä (Ltd Sawblade) established in 1910 and Epilän Konepaja Oy (Epilä Machine Workshop Ltd) established in 1911. During the 1930 economic depression Sahanteräs orders decreased and part of the workforce were laid off. Mr. Syrjänen gave some of the people temporary work by building the Roman Spa near his home Rauhanlinna. (Peace castle) The spa was never finished entirely because of the Winter War (What is the Winter War, explanation in the previous post.) And when the frost in the ground melted after a very cold winter, the spa was in too bad condition and was abandoned. Now one of it's names is Syrjäsen rauniot (Syrjänen's ruins.)

The Roman spa aka Epilän kylpylä aka Syrjänen's ruins is located near the Lielahti power plant, on the bottom of the Epilä eskers ravine. The pond is a landform called kettle (suppa in Finnish) and you can walk there easily by trail near the powerplant. I've even pinpointed it for you to the Steemit world map.

If you go there, don't stroll around too far to the other side of the gate near the houses. You are in peoples private backyards! The houses were built to the place where Syrjänen's home, Rauhanlinna was. Go back to the woods and to the ex spa site. And enjoy the mosquitoes!
As a reminder:
It's dangerous to explore abandoned places. But if you go, do it with good shoes. Don't vandalize. Take your phone with you in case something happens and when you're back from the trip, don't tell in the internet where the place is. Be especially careful with the photos you share. So that no-one who already isn't familiar with the place or the surroundings, doesn't find the place easy. Remove the location data from the photos or don't use it to begin with.

Well at least it is colorful. You kind of describe it as not worth visiting, but your pictures tell another story. Or should I say, you take great pictures no matter the subject :)
:D Thanks! It's worth visiting if you're into exploring abandoned places. Many of these kind of places are not common knowledge as they get vandalized. And if the places are common knowledge, they soon looks like this. It's getting worse and worse over the years and soon it's gone. One could say that this isn't an ordinary place to travel to and there's not much to see. But as you said, I'm telling the story of this place as I see it and I like to explore weird places. :)
