A streaming platform cannot be all about movies and traditional TV series. There has to be some content available to those who want to learn and get information in a funny and informative way. Netflix has understood this, and that is why they created their series named Explained! Disney+ also knows about this, and that is why they have added the series named The World According to Jeff Goldblum on their platform.

The series is a cooperation between Disney and National Geographic, and it is part of the brand new Disney Plus streaming service. For your information, the brand new streaming platform got more than 10,000,000 subscribers within the first 24 hours after release. That is one crazy high number!

The World According to Jeff Goldblum - is it worth it?

Jeff Goldblum is a man of credibility, at least to me. I have no reason for believing him, but based on his character in movies such as Jurassic Park and Independence Day, he seems to be a smart and wise man, and that is why I believe it was a golden hit when National Geographic and Disney landed on Jeff Goldblum to be the host of this show. There is something about him that just gives him credibility.

When you start to watch the show, you quickly realize that Jeff Goldblum also has humor, and he has no trouble making fun of himself. That is important when hosting a show such as this one because he asks funny questions, good questions, stupid questions, and it makes this an informative show anyone can watch without feeling stupid, or without feeling that they do not understand what it is all about.

The first episode of The World According to Jeff Goldblum

The first episode of the show is about Sneakers. I have little to no interest in shoes, but I am happy to wear them when I spend time outdoors. But, in the first episode which lasts for 30 minutes, we get to know a whole lot more about shoe production, what makes a sneaker so valuable, and we get to meet those crazy about shoes and willing to pay thousands of dollars for one single pair of shoes. The fact is, I don't care about the topic, but still, it was quite interesting to watch the episode, and that is much due to the excellent skills of Jeff Goldblum in hosting the show.

Only a good communicator is able to make a boring topic easy to understand and interesting, and I guess that is what Jeff Goldblum achieved in my eyes with the first episode.

Currently, you can only stream the first episode of The World According to Jeff Goldblum on Disney+, but the coming episodes that will be published soon will be about topics such as Ice Cream, Tattoos, Denim, and Barbecue. I guess I will check all those episodes as well, even though I couldn't care less about tattoos and denim, while barbecue and ice cream is way more after my taste!

Conclusion on my review

All honor to Jeff Goldblum for making this a show worth watching, even though you might not be really interested in the topic at hand. This is a relaxed way of getting knowledge about all sorts of topics, and I do believe it will be a hit on Disney+, just like Explained has become a hit among viewers on Netflix.
