Hardfork 19 Is Scheduled Next Week! Get Hyped Bitches
June 20th, the day has been scheduled. Thank you for @timcliff who pointed it out. If you do not know what hardfork 19 is about or what a hardfork is, here is a quick recap. A hardfork is a major change for a blockchain network. Hardfork 19, which is coming next week, is the 19th hardfork for the steem blockchain and it will help spread voting power out to the people. That's right, lower steem accounts should see an increase in voting power. This will lead to a more democratic site and should be more appealing to new users.
In order for steem to hold onto new users, new users are going to need to see progress. They do not need to make it rich overnight and we do want to create a site where people will work hard to create quality. Personally I think people are willing to work for success but they are hesitant to put in time and effort in something that will be a waste of time. Especially online. If new users come on, post a few articles that they worked hard on and get nothing, it can lead to a quick exit. But if they see their votes are worth something and they are making some money from their posts, it will encourage them to stay and work to build an account on here. In order to get to this point, we will need a high price of steem (which is already over $2) and more voting power for more people. Hardfork 19 will get us closer to that goal. It will have to be seen if it is enough, I do think we will need to spread it out more as the price of steem goes up, but we will see where we are at.
Personally I am excited for the hardfork as I think I will see a significant increase in voting power. I am thinking, if the math is right, and I get to 10k SP, I will be able to give a half a steem a vote, which will be more than a dollar (not that I care about the money at this point in time, but the steem). My goal is to have a vote that is worth 1, preferably 2 steem. That means 20 or 40k SP, again, if the math pans out. We will have to see when the hardfork happens. Please bot, upvote and resteem to help this geek reach his goal :)
How do you feel about the hardfork?

I am just as exited as you are. I really can't wait for communities though!!
Me too, I'll be starting a gaming one when they happen if you want to join.
Any ideas yet how you want to use the community feature to create content about gaming?
I keep on telling people that "you could be that guy or girl" if you just pick the subject you are interested in.
I am seriously looking forward to how people will use the community feature that is coming.
I have to see how it will work before I make solid plans but I am thinking of making an encompassing gaming community and then breaking it off into topics from there like fighting games, streaming, mobas, and then break off from there into individual games. The goal will be to gather everyone and then find people who want to run their own groups in the gaming community for specific parts and games. Organization is one of the things this site needs the most at the moment.
I really like the idea!
Someone will build it, it better be you right?
I certainly believe there are many opportunities in bringing toghether the cryptocurrency folks with the gaming community.
The way @exyle is looking at how gaming and cryptocurrencies are comparable is certainly a great insight.

Do you mean bitches as in Jesse Pinkman?
That show was great.
I'm curious to see how well it works.
Same here :)
Thanks for the post, now I know the start date.
I like hardfork19, should be very interesting.
Steem on!!
More voting power for the smaller accounts just makes sense. Right now, it seems for new members that they are "never" going to see a monetary change when they cast a vote on something - effectively making them feel their vote is "worthless" when it is not.
I would love to see a smaller increment accounted for in the value on a post. This would help newer, lower power, members understand where they stand in the voting power. It would also help everyone see, as they power up and gain reputation (if that effects the voting power) that their efforts are indeed having an impact on their account.
Just a thought.
Agreed, we need to show people that their time is spent, even small amounts that have increases show they are moving the right direction.
Cool first time for me a hardfork, how is this going down?
Nice that they give more Steem power to the beginners :) and yes I know the problem.
But to reach a goal you need to work hard i guess
Nice post man
Yep, Steemit can be a tough sell for folks not willing to commit to weeks of seriously good posts. I'd love to see a way to "revisit" posts that were particularly good that just never got traction initially. I think the time of day has a fair amount to do with how much action a post gets, along with the content and just who happens to see it. At the end of the day the goal should be "To add quality with every interaction", I'd like to see a system that consistently rewards that quality.

I can't wait because I like to spread my voting power around and right now it is only a penny so this is definitely great news.
It will definitely be more fair.
Agreed.
Very interesting post, how accurately I translated it Google. I love good posts.
