NaNoWriMo 13 - Alain

in #partiko4 years ago (edited)

Today you have to read Google Translate's translation from Dutch into English. I am suffering from pain and for two days the pain in my left wrists is increasing. I am afraid it is for many hours of writing. I remember I had the same after #MarchMadness. I write, keep writing but need time too to reread my own story. I hate to write what doesn't make sense and remove all those mistakes later on.

It is Saturday and I am working my asses off and worse.

So far I haven't eaten or written anything for my story. Today's, #nanowrimo is a translated out of Dutch by Google Translate. (I already changed the first sentences which means it will be a bad one).

It is November 16, 2019, and I woke up early as on other days. The pain in my face has only increased during the day. I had all sorts of plans but none of them ended up and that means that the stress increases. I want to post my diary, but it hasn't happened yet. Every time I look when the last day has been posted I am distracted by something. And so the day passes.

My first post of the day was the change regarding CommentCoin. It will no longer be a surprise that I was also asked by this group to give a hand. I answer the questions. That keeps me busy for a while. I try to give everyone an answer and not like others to come up with a reaction like "look here" and leave a link. This is no help. I can read, follow a link.and will not ask if I can figure it out myself.

Saturday is also the day of my contest, the one I am hosting and I am always busy with that for two to three hours. Of course, I have a standard post tI use, but I have to read all messages, respond to everything, vote and also make all payments, fill out the names, the payouts, etc. I do not postpone this, especially if my internet connection is also fast.
If you help others, this also means that there is more work to it. As soon as I come across something that I cannot solve, I contact someone about it. Sometimes I do that via steemit, other times I try it via discord or it goes via e-mail.

I am not the richest Steemian around here and I certainly do not get the most responses.
Regardless of whether I use the CommentCoin Tag. I do respond to others using this test because for me it is a nice way to get to know new people, to read something new and interesting and I also come across many familiar ones that I would otherwise miss. When reading messages I also translate many. Not only from English but also Spanish, Italian and Chinese and those languages where I do not understand all the text. I know that many do not, don't care, but I think that on a platform where there are multiple cultures you can also invest a little bit in someone else. Unfortunately I dependent on a good internet connection.

No matter how many hours I spend on Steem, I seem to miss a lot. Of course, I can make a list of everything, but I don't want that and I can't finish such a list either. There is always something in between that you don't count on.

Today Sint Nicolaas arrived in the Netherlands.

Each year about 3 weeks before December 5 he arrives in a different place in the Netherlands with a steamboat. This year it is Apeldoorn. That is quite a celebration and I have always liked to watch TV broadcasts. In recent years, many people have turned this celebration into a demonstration against discrimination and slavery. This is a party where children waiting for a saint and certain adults demonstrate to be noticed, by being aggressive because they believe that December 5th should no longer be celebrated. The Netherlands is no longer allowed to have its own culture. This is really the only party we have left. The word "Christmas" is also banned for a few years because it suddenly hurts certain beliefs. I wonder about the open-mindedness. Why not just not celebrate what you cannot support and ignore? Why do riots have to be kicked in and people beaten up just to express your opinion?

I'm glad we haven't been watching television for years.
This may be the reason that my children are not as flicked as most, and hopefully not grow up as a bunch of ugly, aggressive people who force their believes and opinions through other's throat.
We have not watched the arrival of Sint Nicolaas live. This started today around noon. Later or tomorrow we will watch it via the internet and skip what we do not want to see.
Some sweets for the next days till December 5th and also the celebration itself will be there and we will be celebrating December 5th. After all, this is the party for poor people, the day that Nicholas gave to the poor. This is the only nice thing that we have and that we are looking forward to. No, with us there are no outrageously expensive gifts. We also do not celebrate Christmas with a luxury dinner and expensive gifts. Birthdays are celebrated but sparing. So let us celebrate our party and if you don't like it, feel free to go to pass by our house as I will do to you.
I also let you celebrate, not look down on you and let you party the way you want. I am not standing outside on the street yelling at your door, screaming and protesting in front of your church or mosque and making scenes. Stay at home close your curtains and lock the door and let the world pass by.

Do you not live in your home country?
I wonder to what extent you adjust. Frequently I hear people say that foreigners refuse to integrate, but when they are abroad they do not either. Why is it that measurements are always made with different sizes?

I don't have much time left to freewrite.
I can do it in English neither in German. Yes, it is easy to say it takes 5 minutes but it takes me a lot more time. It is not so much, those five minutes of typing, but the layout, searching for an image, posting and then also leaving the link. If you have a slow internet this can easily take half an hour to 1 hour! If that is the case 5 minutes of writing is very long.

There are also a number of posts I like to save the links from. I keep them in my notes. In the meantime, I am converting every link too so that each of you can read it. It is a pity that nobody does the opposite for me because I also have problems with the esteem link. Even though I have the app on my phone. If I click on such a link, this app will never start.

The way things are going now, I certainly won't be able to keep it up for a long time.
In itself, I would not get stressed if I could go my way and feel good. Unfortunately, that is not the case every day. The time just goes too fast. So I'm going to think about what I can change, what gives me the most energy, but also what is the most time-consuming and I shouldn't do anymore. This will certainly have consequences, If I can no longer write or participate in competitions, I earn even less and in all likelihood, I have to stop my contest. For the time being it is not the case and I will first have this translated by Google Translate and write a freewrite myself, by hand (my case finger). I read that morning mist as a prompt is available, it is better as the homemade waffles I didn't use either.

I wish everyone a very happy Saturday (it is #BeerSaturday) with a lot of fun on this platform.

And to your information...I did check out this translation. It was better done as my spoken part from yesterday but not great. I will test it out more. Big chance it improves if I change the Dutch sentences a bit into the English way of speaking.

This altogether means I still need to write about 600 words. I think I.already wrote them today by commenting, keeping my diary daily. Since early this morning I am mainly on steem and my finger is painful I can assure you that. Also that most of my comments are longer like 1 or 2 lines and it is a way of chatting/staying in touch with you. If you would read each comment I wrote and have a photographic memory you get the picture.

It is true my story is without an end and endless stories.
If you read the first part (#MarchMadnesd) you know the tale leaves you with some questions. You can ignore them and fall asleep happily ever after. Another option is writing your own end, telling it your way. Alain is one of these children who never heard a story to its end, who always falls asleep long before. A book in a library told him the tale about an elderly woman and her wish. Her land felt like home and... this story did not end either.
It is this boy who arrives with his companion and friends in a place that did not change through the ages. Just the house looks older and the wolf misses. How come nothing really changed? If someone else reads the tale about the elderly women will it be different from what Alain read? Will this reader read about a giant that followed them into this world and watches them go inside the old house?

There are giants in the new world too.
They were not the first. Their father was and he created them and he loves all of them dearly. He is proud of his boys and intends to protect them against evil. His children are peaceful and shouldn't be harmed by anyone.
Evil is present too. It is the ghost. One with a bad temper and there is a lot of envy in him. It is centuries ago he was a great guy. Perhaps even a sweet boy and a shy young man. He changed in a bundle of jealousy since the father mentioned his sons were discovering the world. What is this ghost up to? He will not give up on his goal, the one he worked for his entire life. The only way he can succeed is if he has a body. Now he is not more as an icy wind if anger comes over him, a morning fog no one expected and makes you shiver and depressed. That is what the giants feel as soon as he approaches them and tries to possess their bodies. They cannot scream out load but their bodies, nerves do instead just like their eyes and they all respond as one in exactly the same way.

The giants changed.
It was hard to tell if they turned into a rock forever or an iceberg if they would come back alive or had to melt first.
For the ghost they became useless and his once so close friend was furious. The eyes, the mirror of the soul, said enough before the ghost could whistle he was locked in and disappeared.

The father observed his sons.

Although the ghost blamed him he did not change his sons into stone. He examined each of them but saw no difference. They kept their eyes wide open and he was not sure if they were aware of what happened to them. Their color remained the same. They were still grey-green. He sat down on one of the beds to think. He was in his lab as he felt their fear. He saw them slapping in the air and it took a while before he noticed it was fog they banged into. The ghost... They tried to defeat the ghost by making it bigger and less concentrated and that ghost tried to possess them. All of them? Was it possible for him to possess each of his sons? Was it strong enough to do take them all?

"No, no way. He does not need each of them to succeed, just one would do," he murdered, "what had he said: take good care of your favorite. These were his words. You are favorite. He does not know which one is my favorite to him they look the same."

He smiled. It was no secret they were identical, they were the same, even acted the same.

"If a cold, hateful fog did this to you a warm, loving touch can make you better."

Slowly he raised and put both hands on the giant in front of him. Words were not needed to feel its fear either to calm it down and bring it back to him. A deep sigh escaped from the son and the father as life came back.

"It was a busy day. You can sleep now, the ghost will no longer hurt you. You, all of you, found a way to protect yourselves against evil."

He brought the giant to its bed and noticed it turned a bit greener as before. One by one his hands healed his precious children. As they all sleep he sat outside in front of the cave and stared at the moon. "After I slept I will search for the first living. They are there. I know they exist and survived, they did just like me and you."

The moon did not answer but it shone him straight into his face and that was close enough.

"Good night moon, we meet later. I am here for a reason, my children were made for a reason. If that reason is no longer here we have to leave. I hope you will come along and show me the way. It looks as if the sun will not make it much longer. Have you noticed how small it is?"

He stared at the sun. It still shone, made his world warm but it was as if it became smaller. They were used to its warmth and in the world of rocks clothes or blankets did not exist.

"Giants can not stand the cold," a voice said. He recognized it but was not in the mood to answer it. It had been a long day and it still did not come to an end.
He went into the cave and after he whispered a "sweet dreams" to each of them he fell asleep...

"Is it possible to read a tale? A fairy tale I mean, like the ones our mother always told us before bedtime? I frequently fell asleep half the way and it would be good to read the end." "... Walk around, read the titles. You are a great reader and find what you need. You can take your time. Here time doesn't exist."

.......

"Show me World's End", he whispered, but all the pages in the book remained empty. Not one single line or word could be found. What was the reason the book didn't show WE? Did someone change the name of the city? Did it not exist or... was it not the end of the world?

.......

He found "The book about fairy tales" or actually the book found him. As he stood in front of the shelf, reading titles it fell off and lay in front of his feet. The book promised tales about a long-forgotten time. Long forgotten sounded attractive. He wished he could walk around, live in such a time. At first, he leafed through it. Read the titles one by one until he arrived at chapter 11 "The wish of the old woman".

.......

At first he felt lost without his mother. She had been the one who took care of everything. Now he had to find a way to do it alone. At night the animals stayed close and he felt safe, as soon as the day started fear caught him. He could hardly breathe, felt afraid to go outside. No matter how hard the sun shone, how many times the rooster crowed, he refused to go outside.

.....

He knew there was another, bigger world right over the hill. With some changes, he could make a lot of money out of his inherence. His earth was rich, so was the orchard and he hardly had to work himself. He was no fool, noticed how all worked together, everything was in balance. It was to him to reap the benefits of it.

.....

"Raven can help me", he murmured, "he is a brilliant talker, not too smart and knows how to turn black into white."

......

"Again an open-ended story for me. How come I always have these tales? What if all stories mom told me were open-ended and I didn't fell asleep before hearing the end?", Alain thought.

"Raven," he murmured, "what happened to Raven?"

He woke up with a shock. He searched his memory. What did he dream? Parts of it he remembered. R
The old woman, Raven, a boy reading a tale.

"No, it is not a tale, he reads my life. Again, who are you?".
