NaNoWriMo 12 - Testing

in #creativecoin4 years ago (edited)

As I went to bed yesterday, I thought it might be a good idea to talk instead of writing.
I've done that before, but I have a big problem. Google only understands Dutch. This means that I have to speak in Dutch first (my #nanowrimo) and next translate it with the help of Google. I'm going to try it anyway. This means that the language will be less lively because if Google wants to understand you, you must articulate very clearly. With a "speaking computer" (it is not a computer but software) I have experience from the past. The past was one of my last duties at an office. I suffered from joint pains and at first, specialists thought it could be RSI. However, this turned out not to be the case since this disease is typically for the wrists and not in your ankles. For a longer period, I worked with the software, both in the office and at home. This software was then named "Dragon". I got along pretty well with it and also filling out forms, one of the most boring tasks at work.
With 10 fingers, "blind typing", I can and I do not have to look at the screen, but if your head is always turned left!to be able to read the form, you will get health complaints. My health ran back. In the end, I was almost paralyzed and spent the most time in bed.
I continued to live independently, fortunately, I also have independent children. With your ailments, you live your life again and you come up with all sorts of tricks to make something possible. My mobile phone arrived less as 4 years ago, but it was quite a solution for me. I wrote a lot of stories with it. Over 140 fairy tales, I typed (all of these with my finger lying in bed on my side) within 2 months' time.

But typing should go faster.
The possibilities are there, you no longer need to buy an expensive program. A good and steady internet connection is a must.

(a little break I had to fill my warm water bag)

Why do so few people use Google Translate, do they write instead of speak? It must be possible for Google to understand you and also types out the words flawlessly so that you no longer have to worry about it. At least I intend to talk for 30 minutes now and next I'll translate it. I'm curious what Google makes of it.

These kinds of programs learn by doing, practicing. I am not sure about google translate but I guess this also applies to this tool.
I remember that Dragon's software got better and better over time. You read a text several times so that the software recognizes the way you pronounce it. It worked flawlessly for me. Maybe because I don't speak a dialect?

If you want to translate with the help of Google Translate, there is something you have to keep in mind to get the best possible translation, you mainly have to make short sentences and not use proverbs and sayings. Also, the street language is out of the question. Google can't make sense out of it.
If there is anyone who knows who is behind Google's translations, who comes up with it, I love to hear from you. I am quite curious about this because frequently nothing is right.

It takes some time getting used to speaking out loud. So far I have never told the story I am working on in Dutch. Let's just say it's called "Once upon a time". This is how most fairy tales start. I write a tale, even if it takes longer than 5 minutes, it's a tale.

Once upon a time, there was a man.

What he liked best was creating a new life. Maybe he wanted to be God or just wanted to be better than Dr. Frankenstein. The fact was that he did not succeed and he only had his life to achieve his goal. After many battles and a Big Bang that ended his world, all was over. All, everything? No, it did not. The inventor lived on. It is still unclear how, who knows, he will tell that later in this story.
Of course, he was overjoyed when he found out that he had not left the earth. That there was no other life he didn't care about. After all, that was what he wanted to create, new life. It was his plan to populate the world with his creatures. Finally, he was able to finish his work, being immortal made it possible. No one would bother him or say that it is wrong, he could finish his job. He saw it as his life's goal and had no intention of deviating from it.
There was only a small problem that he had not reckoned with which he found out about some later.
He lost his body and it is difficult to work without hands.

What is a life worth if you are a ghost?
Years he floated around and searched for other signs of life. If he survived, someone else might too.
The great thing about being a ghost is that you can get into different spheres without a body and so he discovered he was perhaps the only one in his world, but there were other worlds besides his.

While wandering, he landed in an area where stones and rocky mountains dominated. It was a mainly gray world but a young man lived happily there. The spirit did not change his mind twice this was his chance. After observing the man for a few days, he moved into a large stone. It was apparently the man's favorite place and the ghost noticed how he talked to the rock.
It was the first time in his life he saw someone talking to a stone. He decided to use the Stone, possess it and become friends. He felt lucky. For sure, this could be no coincidence. The guy wished to create a new life too. The ghost learned that he gave his word to the first living. In his childhood he spoke to them, they were the ones who predicted the violence and abusement of Mother Nature.

It was the weirdest story he ever heard. Ghost or not he needed to think it over. Who was those first living? Who said the man was not screwed up during the years he lived alone. Talking stones, the first living... it was hard to believe such a story. It didn't make any sense unless... unless something hidden inside. He could not deny that they came from the earth. Pressed earth that is what stones are. He examined them from all sides. Carefully he stepped inside of the huge stone with the glittering spots on it. He had to force himself inside.

At the moment he possessed it he felt hostility but had not bothered much about it. With his extremely cold, he overcame each resistance. The stone turned out to be a good home. From here he planned to start up again and work further on his goal.

The young man learned quick, accepted and nothing surprised him. No master wished for a better student like him.
A plus was he collected the necessary items from the very first minute he gave the stones his word as a young boy. What these first living exactly wanted or the kid promised them stayed a secret. The ghost didn't care. Why should he? Soon his problems were solved and he was the one bringing life back on earth. There was nothing more he longed for. A little boy's promise could hardly be worth breaking one's brain over. What counted was that hís dream came true.

For years he heard the enthusiastic stories about the increasing of what the man called his project. He only heard a part of them. It is hard to share in someone's enthusiasm if the results are not yours. Occasionally he flew off to take a look at the other worlds.
His new friend probably never found it out or didn't care. Most of the time he spent in his laboratory a place the ghost never went over. He waited till the moment came to the inventor waited for him and told it was the time. It was about time. Once back from his trip to the other world, he heard the great news. He succeeded and the first creatures left to discover the world.

He heard it, heard it all. No, he couldn't be happy, his heart did not sing for joy. There was not one single, friendly or positive word that came out of his mouth. Envy was eating him. It should be his moment to shine, his creations should have left to populate the world and be the world's first living. He shouted at his friend, "You think you are the only living being on earth? You can forget about that. There are more, the world is bigger than the tiny place you live in!" He flew away and left his friend shivering from cold.

After some time he regretted it. His words, behavior. He felt not proud of what he had done but letting go of his goal was out of the question. No way he apologized for it. Anger came over him again. Who would help him this time?

If the man was no longer his friend, he needed to do it alone. It was time to rethink his goal. It was the only thing left to do. In the other world, he disappeared and thought about his next steps.
What he needed was a body. The only one who available was the man his or his monster's.
Just one, those monsters would do. Their creator never told how many left, not mentioned they would populate the world. He would with his own beings as soon as he catches one. The first living had to wait. If they exist at all, lived in stones since the first day of the planet the stones were good enough.

"Mother Nature told you to be a stone and that is your destiny," he snarled at a small, white stone and blew it through the air. "You kind is everywhere, there's no need to have more of you. Get lost!"

The little stone did not answer and if the ghost would not understand one word of what it said. Stones only speak if there is a need to. They have their own language and studying it will not bring you anything. You cannot hear them if the message is not meant for you. It is that simple and there are no exceptions. The ghost was not aware of it and not interested either in a stone's life. The little white one gathered the wisdom and landed out of the ghost's sighed.

If it came to him they all could drop dead Mother Nature included.

This story continues but not here.

Talking goes three times faster than typing. I noticed the more text the worse the translation is and if I speak I think different from when I type. If it comes to my creativity I can better type as talk.

I wrote more, much more...

@wakeupkitty Interesting story, I can't wait to read more.

@myjob I am slow if it comes to writing, I mean the story. ❤️

@wakeupkitty I understand, sometimes I am, too. When I am fishing hard I can not spend much time on the computer but things are slow right now. I am lucky to have good internet in my home. Something I know you do not have, so please do not worry about trying to answer my posts or replies to you. I know you will when you can. I hope your Sunday is filled with rest and good feelings.

@myjob I mainly rested. I hardly had connection last Sunday which made it easier to sleep for hours. Well, I am happy yesterday, Monday, is over. The stress visiting schools etc. My child is enthusiastic and will travel or work abroad which means if I am still alive in a few years I can too. Happy day and thanks for answering. ❤️
