Crossed-eyed [E] / Schielen (D)

Leering?

My first thought was "lering". It is the Dutch word for "learning".
"Lering trekken it" means... Learning from it.
Again I needed to translate this word and I thought I had it but the German prompt says "squint".
How confusing. Is squint the same as leering?

A teacher of mine cross-eyed.
It was not his only problem. He cursed. That might be normal to you but it is not to me especially not for one who teaches religion. I cannot remember much of these lessons. The first day we met the class laughed at him and he let them, although he cursed. He said we could laugh at him the whole hour after that hour we were not allowed to laugh at him for the rest of the year. It was not that his squinting eyes made him unpleasant but the rest of his appearance and the never-ending cursing did. I do not like people who curse. I do not see the need for it and no, you are not tougher if you do it.

I remember there was a national campaign against cursing it said " Don't be a parrot, cursing is taught.

I kept myself busy during these hours.
Except for one lesson I have no idea what he taught. He was not fond of the students perhaps liked teaching? That lesson he brought posters with him. I believe all kinds of faces. You had to pick one and tell why you chose that photo. I remember I did not like to do that, not one photo was attractive to me and I only took one because he kept forcing me to. I took one and did not care. The photo thing is psychology and they label you by the answer you come up with. As he asked me I probably came up with some story he liked to hear. That is how it works. You say what the teacher likes to hear.

I was not asked frequently to answer questions but seen as an active student, one that made notes.
Yes, I made notes and even about what he said. Each lesson I wrote down each word and sentence he scolded and shouted. I saved what I wrote for years. This teacher was for sure not my favorite teacher.

Leering ...

Lehrling sagt was der Lehrer gerne hört.

Mir wurde nicht oft gefragt Fragen zu beantworten aber ich wurde schon als aktiver Student gesehen. Ich habe nämlich immer Notizen gemacht.
Schön brav schrieb ich jedes Wort und jeden Satz auf, die er schimpfte und schrie. Ich habe das Heft jahrelang aufbewahrt. Dieser Lehrer war mit Sicherheit nicht mein Lieblingslehrer.

Mach mit! Täglich versorgt uns @freiesschreiben mit einem neuen Thema.

@wonderwop Really... it must be very hungry than! You better feed it a bit earlier. Happy Sunday and thanks for stopping by and commenting. 💕

Since it is a freewrite - just go whatever pops into your mind - even if it is the dutch word that sounds like it. And Schielen and leering are not the same. But sometimes, just single words are hard to translate and we agreed to just use a word that is maybe a little bit similar to make it easier...
I think for leering you need more of a descriptive in German - or slang...

@mariannewest I think for "leering" I figured out the meaning of it but I still have no idea what would be a good translation to it. Although I think it fits to the neighbour... 🤔 Happy Sunday and thanks for answering. 💕

Yeah, I was struggling again finding a translation. Same for Friday's prompt..

@botefarm Thank you for the delivery. I thought I responded on it with @partiko but clearly not according to Steemreply.com. A great Sunday to you. ❤️
