🐅Tiger Story #1 - My encounters with TOP CATS of the Jungle... (Original Photos)

in #life7 years ago (edited)

"Better to live one year as a tiger, than a hundred as a sheep." - Madonna.

This is the story about a young Tiger, known simply as T74 that I had the fortune to photograph.

This is the first of a series of blogs that I intend to write to document my close and not so close encounters with the top predators in the forrests, jungles and bush. I will also try to present some lesser known facts about the Top Cats along with my original pictures of them.

Frequenting a 100 mile area in the buffer zone jungles of Ranthambore in India, T74 is a young male tiger who is trying to establish his own territory. His rival is another young male T54 who also frequents the same zone.

After seeing a disturbance in the lesser fauna (monkeys and small deer), we scanned a wide patch of grass almost 200-300 m away and at the bottom of the hill on which we were waiting. A small movement caught my eye as I stared through my lens at maximum zoom and then suddenly those blazing yellow eyes could be seen - staring straight at me. Goose bumps sprang up on my arms and with shaky hands, I too this picture of my first sighting of a Tiger in it;s natural habitat. The camouflage is almost perfect and T74 is almost invisible in the tall yellowing grass. I was spellbound and speechless for several minutes - completely forgetting even to take any more pictures!

Some lesser know facts about tigers:

  • A tiger’s legs are so powerful that they can remain standing even when dead!

  • A tiger can leap upto 6 meters high. In comparison, even a proficient athlete can only leap about 2 meters

  • A tiger is LESS LIKELY to kill us if we look it in the eye! A Tiger prefers ambush killing and if it feel that we have seen it, it is likely to abandon the hunt for a better opportunity...

Please feel free to re-steem this blog to spread awareness about these majestic beasts - One of the most endangered species..

is this your picture?

Yes. I have taken it in Ranthambore Zone 5 around 10th Feb. in 2016. Nikon P900 Camera. The 90X zoom enabled me to take it even though distance was fairly great.

ok thanks for clarifying that! :)

Just curious - what made you ask ? Did you suspect that I had just lifted it off the net or something? I have avoided that from day 1. The only post where I did a tribute to great animal funny photos by other photographers, I clearly mentioned image sources and credits.

yes its been a lot of steemit abuse recently, so we are asked to verify and check! look i just found another food account plagiarism recipes and making money off it! https://steemit.com/food/@hms818/very-delicious-and-yummy-italian-dessert-panna-cotta he lied as well! will be shut down now

Oh Ok. I appreciate your vigilance. I have stated original photo in my post. Do you suggest some other way of stating it is my own picture or post some additional information? I am new to social media and would appreciate guidance.

it should be ok, if you have a logo or something you can add to it! also once you build your reputation people will trust you more!

Ok. I do not have a logo. As I mentioned, I am new to this whole thing. So far, my computer usage was limited to work work and work while I was stuck in the rut of being successful in my career. I used my laptop after retirement to just download and store pictures from my camera and now have started Steemit. I will try to make a logo. Thank you for your suggestion.

What an awesome photo. I love these majestic creatures. Beautiful

Thank you for your kind words of appreciation. If you feel like spreading the message about tigers, please consider resteeming this blog. Thanks

Nice photo. And interesting info regarding the tigers.
I like tigers very much, almost as much as wolves.

I am glad you liked it. Will be writing more about tigers, lions and leopards with their original pictures taken by me.
