As so often I am amazed at when I hear the intuition call to go check on my Vince I find you are doing is what I am doing. Loosening the hang-ups on old mind loops that only suck me dry and don't get me anywhere anymore...

Been recently drawing a lot of power from Jasons's work online, he makes awesome mantras that you can dive into before you sleep or even meditate on, in the spirit of replaying the old hang-ups with beneficial ones to dwell on endlessly on purpose ;)

I have since started barring most noise online from my life that has long ceased to deliver new ideas but only keeps focussing on the problem side of things, and instead listen to this serveal times a day to fortify my take on life and to massage these notions more and more into my subconscious.
Had to think of it instantly when I read your awesome analogy, not familiar with the book but I feel the concepts are congruent and all the more powerful when combined.

Sounds too much like taking responsibility for yourself and who wants to do that when it's so much easier to blame other people and things for how much your life sucks XD

Walking away from sandpapery topics is pretty much what I've done, though there are counter arguments about how doing this instead of having respectful conversations about such sandpapery topics is actually a bad thing. So what to do XD

There's a healthy balance. Don't constantly try to avoid bad feelings and run from them, but don't let yourself dwell on them and prolong them. Let them be. Let them come and let them go without resisting. Just observe. Thoughts and feelings are clouds on a clear, peaceful sky. The more you practice this, the more natural it becomes and your mind is more meditative throughout your day. It helps stresses to not build up in the mind and remain there after the actual stimulus is long gone, helps you remain more calm and centered more often.

Nicely put. That sounds like mindfulness to me. We should definitely not push ( thoughts ) away all the time but observing ( watching thoughts in an objective way ) is easier said then done. Meditation definitely helps wit this.
