Burger King Russia to accept Bitcoin this summer
Yesterday I wrote a article about Amazon to allow Bitcoin and Litecoin as a payment method. Now, a day later, local newssites are posting that Burger King Russia will allow Bitcoin as a payment method this summer. I do not know if this is true because the big media still has to confirm it, but there is detailed news coming out of the local news.
According to local news resources, a Moscow branch of Burger King has started piloting Bitcoin payments, with officials now confirming a nationwide rollout. The following is a quote from an article from newsbtc.com.
It comes as a big surprise to learn Burger King is keen on Bitcoin. Things only get more amazing when considering how we are talking about Burger King in Russia, of all places. Until a few months ago, Bitcoin and Russia would have been an impossible combination. Things are certainly turning in favor of cryptocurrency right now. This is a major development which will help put Bitcoin the map, especially in Eastern Europe.
More specifically, Burger King will reveal the winner of the tender for the software to accept Bitcoin payments. It appears the fast food giant has been working on cryptocurrency payment integration for some time now. With multiple developers competing to create a proper solution, things will get very interesting in Russia moving forward. It is unclear which parties are in the running to make this integration happen, though.
Interestingly enough, integrating Bitcoin payments is not the biggest hurdle for Burger King. Instead, they have to deal with tax issues. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not legal tenders in Russia, which creates some tax issues. After all, Burger King needs to declare earnings, yet if the currency is not legal tender, it creates a confusing situation. It will be interesting to see how the company tackles this problem moving forward. Additionally, this may lead to some “emergency regulation” by the Russian government as well.
I hope this news is true and will be further confirmed. I know a Burger King franchise in Arhnem (The Netherlands) is already accepting Bitcoins, so I give it a possibility. As I wrote yesterday, cryptocurrencies needs large institutions (for example Amazon or Burger King) to become a success. That's why I'm very happy to read that there's a big company in Russia where you can probably spend cryptomoney this summer. In addition, I keep saying that it is very important for people to spend cryptocurrencie so that money comes into circulation.
To persuade companies to allow payment with cryptocurrency I am thinking to start a petition/site. A pool/site where we can start a petition to companies. In which we ask them to allow crypto currencies. Let me know what you think about this in the comments and I can work it out. My personal opinion is that we have to show to companies that there are many people who want to use cryptocurrencie (Like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash, Ether or Zcash).

wow, great, Need to be available to the public to make them aware that bitcoin is the future of payments
Yes, Bitcoin and other crypto's need to get a real world application to grow further. Personally, I'm a fan of Litecoin and Dash to use for payments due the transaction speed and low fees. But allowing Bitcoin as a payment method would be great, certainly after the update!
Yes, most people haven't even heard about bitcoin, so letting them know through popular fast food like burger king sounds like a good way to at least let people know there is such thing. I haven't tried Dash yet, will learn about it first .
I too would prefer litecoin to be used for payments instead of bitcoin. But as companies accept bitcoin as payment, I think would just be a short step for them to use litecoin or Dash as payments also
I completely agree with this!
i shared your post on etoro yesterday, i was hoping for better feedback from the community there, i wanted to inform them that crypto is not just about making a quick buck, but its about revolution and taking back control of our money much like Steemit does! Sadly i was mistaken and shot down, it seems there's a lot more education needed and things like BK accepting Bitcoins can only serve to push that education (even though i'm not a fan of Burger King) One person did comment and say they had signed it though :)
Thanks for sharring, we have to find many like-minded people. Well, some people do not want to see it now but cryptocurrencie is in its early stages. The speed of the blockchain is really an advantage to pay intentionally. And that is necessary in a world that is connected 24/7 via the internet. In addition, a decentralized currency is very useful if your native currency is n't worth anything (like Venezuela now). But people will understand this during a new crisis. For example, if a new crisis occurs in the US due to excessive debt and the dollar is nothing worth people will switch massively to cryptocurrencie. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I agree. The bigger the company the better. Overstock.com takes Bitcoin... but I've never bought anything from there. Amazon however I think I have a FREQUENT flyer card for. : O
In Soviet Russia bitcoin buys you.
If all goes well with Bitcoin , it will be a well accepted mode of exchange. Good read. I thing steem will do good too.

Success.
That feeling when Russia is more libertarian than your country.
Russia made a 360 degree turn on its opinion about cryptocurrencie ;)
What is with the black burgers/cheese at Russian Burger Kings?
Would be very cool if it gets confirmed:

Beginning to think accepting BTC is the wrong way to go. It should be LTC or similar. BTC should be kept as an investment, while the smaller coins should be used as everyday transactional currency. Keep BTC for those big ticket items like a Lambo, Mansion, etc. ;)
Yes I agree, for now Litecoin is way more practical to buy small things. They should start with Litecoin, Dash or similar. I see Bitcoin more like gold or savings. But as the scaling problem is solved, Bitcoin is also a good option for buying stuff.
BK being the first of many! Mainstream soon!
Once the big names start accepting it as payment, all will join. And then we will se some growth. Looking back will be like, remember when BTC was just $2.500 ?
Thanks for the info!
