Columbia v Japan 1-2

In a shocking upset, Columbia were beaten after an almost comical red card. Carlos Sanchez was sent off in the 3rd minute after being ruled to have handled the ball.
Shinji Kagawa (Japan) converted a penalty in the 6' which was cancelled out by a 39' stunner from Juan Quintero (Colombia) via a lovely freekick. However in the 79' Yuya Osako (Japan) powered in a header from very close range to snatch the win for Japan.

Poland v Senegal 1-2

The Senegalese wasted no time in taking the game to the Polish. Wave after wave of attack till Poland began to crack. First an own goal from a deflection by Thiago Cionek(Pol), then Mbaye Niang showed great place to slip in between a defender and keeper to slot home the second in the 60'.
The Senegalese then proceeded to defend their lead but Grzegorz Krychowiak managed a consolation goal in the 86'.

Russia v Egypt 3-1

Russia were swift and decisive. Ripping apart an Egypt team who had their faith placed on a half-recovered Salah. Unfortunately the Russian defense was up to the task of stopping the mecurial attacker who was not quite back to full fitness.
Salah did convert a penalty in the 73' after he was taken down in the box.
After a goalless first half, an early own goal by Ahmed Fathi in the second half basically unlocked the defense. It was followed by two quick strikes by Denis Cheryshev(59') and Artem Dzyuba(62')
