Hello everyone, welcome to Steem for Pakistan. Today, I want to share an important and informative post related to the Pakistani community. The monsoon season in Pakistan starts on 1st July and ends on 30th September. This season is a natural gift from God as it fulfills the water demand and helps in reducing the excessive summer heat. During the monsoon season, the river flow increases and meets the demand for irrigation water. The Kharif Crop is dependent on rain and irrigation influenced by the monsoon's rain pattern. The monsoon season also increases Rabi crop production because the storage reservoirs such as dams, barrages, and lakes get filled during this season. Another benefit of this season is that it fills the dams of the country, which are later used for hydel power generation.

The monsoon season brings several benefits, but it can also lead to significant destruction. Excessive rainfall during this season often results in river floods, causing damage to agricultural fields, crops, dams, barrages, and other infrastructure. The 2022 monsoon season was particularly destructive, leading to the destruction of various infrastructures, fields, crops, and livestock, affecting thousands of people. Hundreds were left homeless and lost their lives. As a result, agricultural production and exports decreased, leading to a rise in unemployment, crime, and health-related issues.
The aim of this post is to raise awareness about the Monsoon floods. On 5 July 2024, I visited the river Panjokora. I observe an excessive increase in its flow. Today, once again I visited the river and saw that the river is increasing with time. This increase is due to the snow melting in the mountains and the Monsoon rain in northern areas. When the excessive water flow (floods) reaches the plain area it causes destruction in the plains. The given below are some pictures that I captured from river Panjkora. You can see the increase in flow in these pictures.

According to the Inter-Agency Monsoon contingency plan 2024, the monsoon of the current year can cause natural disasters. Pakistan is included in the list of 10 countries which is exposed to natural disasters.
It is requested that the government, NGO's and public of the Pakistan to take precautionary measure in order to reduced the social, economic, cultural, biological, and geological risks.
