Here is how the Steemit Trending Page would look like without Bid Bots and Self Votes! (10.01.2019)

Trending Posts Without Bid Bots and Self Votes

In the last 24 hours alone people spent at least 743 SBD and 21224 STEEM on post promotions using bid bots or vote selling services. I know bid bots are a controversial topic and it is not up to me to decide if these bots are good or bad. Heck, I'm a bot myself, so who am I to judge? However, I can help you with your own judgment by providing data. Besides my DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS, where I try to direct attention to posts that deserve more rewards, I decided to use the data at my disposal to publish another kind of top list.

Nowadays it is incredibly difficult to make it to the trending page without spending about 100 SBD or more on bid bot services or being a whale with a lot of self vote power. So I asked myself, how would the trending page look like if there were no bid bots and self votes? Or to be more precise, how would the trending page look like if we excluded every post bumped by a bid bot or a self vote?

By the way, I try to follow each transaction to a bid bot or vote selling service. Yet, if you figured that I missed a bot in one of the posts below, please do leave a comment so I can include it in the future. Thanks!

The Top 10 Posts NOT Promoted by Bots

So without further ado, here are the top earning, text based posts (excluding dmania etc.) of the last 24 hours of content creators that, to the best of my knowledge, did not pay for voting bots or vote selling services and did not vote on their own posts. A list of the humble, so to say. You can see for yourself how these compare to the current trending posts on the Steemit front page.

#1 Minecolonies The better Builder! -- by @raycoms with a current reward of 85 SBD

Hi everyone, one of the things I noticed when we had our Patreon competition was that one of the biggest bottlenecks was the speed of the builder. This was due to a number of reasons but mainly due to the numerous trips he has to make and how much he has to walk around in the building he is building. For that reason, I changed a bunch of things around this to improve it. I started by making sure that the builder would not take items with him he doesnt need in his current building phase. ...

#4 The Gates in Sshang Gyeo Sa Temple -- by @slowwalker with a current reward of 40 SBD

As arriving at Sshang Gyeo Sa temple, what attracted my attention was the arrangement of the gates. As Ive posted several times before, there are lots of gates meaning the order or the structure of Buddhist paradise. Unlike other temples, the gates in this temple were arranged in a row with very close distances. The first thing welcomed me was the stone bridge in front of the one pillar gate. Id like interpret the bridge as the symbol of the border between this and that world. The one ...

#7 Exploratory Analysis Shows World of Opportunity with JSON and STEEM -- by @paulag with a current reward of 25 SBD

The use of Custom JSON field on the STEEM Blockchain is becoming more and more popular. ;From discussion I have read, this field can do almost anything from creating Tokens to holding game information. JSON data is a way of representing objects or arrays. ;It is easy to read, and it is easy to parse. ;Many API calls will return JSON format and many web apps use JSON to easily move information around the internet. Its is therefore no surprise that developers are now using the JSON filed on s...

#8 Albuquerque Museum of Art and History -- by @pinkspectre with a current reward of 25 SBD

We had a family field trip to the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History today. Growing up, this was always one of my favorite places to visit. I was delighted to share it with my family today. The museum is an awesome blend of local history and art, but it also features a rotating worldclass exhibit. With over 10,000 works of art and almost 30,000 historical artifacts, there was a lot to see. I snapped some photos of the interesting and beautiful things we saw today, but of course, didnt ...
