Traveling the World #162 - Remise Transport Museum @ Vienna, Austria (II)

Hi Everyone,

Let’s continue touring the Remise Transport Museum in Vienna. As mentioned in the previous travel blog, there are loads to see at the museum from the current trams the city is using to the oldest type that was ever used. There are so much to take in and showcase which is why this shed is a world of info for tram lovers.

There are at least 5-6 lanes of trams to go through. Between them, there are different sections showcasing other parts of the tram including various officer uniforms, different tram interiors, posters, ticket machines, handrails for passages etc. It was really interesting to see the items and the kids loved how they can touch some of the items.

There was the first conductor-less tram which started operation in the 1960s. Although the conductor is on the tram, he/she doesn’t need to operate it like they used to. We were also able to see parts like the engine, wheels etc of the tram for those who are into mechanics. The engine was an eye open for the kids as they didn’t think such a big engine could fit into the tram.

Here you a model on how the transport system could run in Vienna. This includes trams, buses and cars all running at the same time. In the final post of this museum, I will show you the modern trams as well as a special area to experience more on the trams this time, for those around the world.
