What’s The Best Thing That Happened To You Thanks To Steemit?

in #challenge30days6 years ago (edited)

I am so much ready to take on this next challenge of answering such question.

Are you?

With some topics, writing an article is as easy as one two three. With others, however, it's hard. Even more so when you don't have anything tangible in your hands to actually write about. Initially, I thought I would pass up on this one, but I just couldn't do it, because it would make me stall and that's just not my thing. Making progress is hard, let's face it. Did your dad ever tell you being successful is easy? I didn't think so either.

So, here we go.

"Nothing. I've got nothing. He said it all."

Such were the first few words to come to my mind after reading @dragosroua's article on today's topic, which, by the way, if you haven't already, you should definitely READ.

I felt like he said it all and that there was nothing else I could add to it, as he took the words straight out of my mouth.

Or so I thought.

I've experienced very similar awakening as Dragos has, albeit under different circumstances. I haven't yet built any business, let alone see it fall into pieces. I haven't run 10km, let alone an ultramarathon. As a matter of fact, I've barely made any profit here on Steemit. Initially, I googled for a solution on how to make back the money I had lost on margin trading. I'm happy to say that I've found so much more than that.

It's not about what I came for.
It's why I stayed, that is important.

The one best thing that happened to me thanks to Steemit is actually two things. Honestly, I think it is many more, but I narrowed it down to just two, none of them being Steem rewards or people who gave them. That is cheating, you say? Well, I hope not. If it is, then I'm truly sorry, but I cannot pick just one, as they are interconnected, so please, let me explain myself here. It's just two words, really. Inspiration and Motivation. Vast amounts of Inspiration and Motivation shared by thousands of like-minded creative people, who strive to do their best to create and curate genuine and valuable content.

To me, this is the fundamental difference between creating a platform to connect people only to then force manipulated advertisements onto them in order to make money and creating a true social network experience that is living and breathing self-sufficient organism. That is the idea of a healthy social network. A place where people can grow and strive through value co-creation, not just consume and degrade.

I found Utopian. ...well, it found me.

It really is a great service. I haven't really submitted any idea or commit, but I'm planning on doing so in the future.

Hopefully a new career.

Career. Such a nasty word around here. I'd much rather call it adventure. ;)

My new steemit adventure! :) lol

I think this turned out fine. Maybe dragosroua's thoughts impeded you a bit because you think a lot alike in this case, but inspiration and motivation are too great things to get out of Steemit. It should be something we all get. Even if it's something like, "If he can do that, so can I," or "I can do that bettter."

And used the information we put there to give/sell data to companies so they would buy the ads to target us with.

That is exactly what I meant by "manipulated advertisements".

Okay. I thought maybe that's what you meant, but I tend to want to state the obvious, or at least clarify it. :)

It had crossed my mind, however, that while this blockchain and subsequent ecosystem was not designed for the purpose you describe, it can still be used to those ends if someone wants it to. A lot of people here have been using this platform because they don't like censorship, but the opposite is also true. Without some expunging I'm not aware exists yet, things can't be deleted off the blockchain. So if an authority wants to come looking, I'm not sure what's in place to stop them, and that might be okay in a few cases, not so okay in many others.

Clarifying is what makes us money around here, haha. :)

I am glad you liked it. :)

I quit my job and i start a new project and steemit help me a lot about it :) it s really change my life

Hi @tim3w4rp I found motivation and hope.
I am still new so I can not really say it yet. But I have an idea that I would quit my job and become full time here on steemit or other platform that may exist in the future.

Well, that is a brave idea. I'm sure you can accomplish it. Just make sure not to rush anything ;)
