What Is Steem To Me

in #dtube5 years ago

What is best for Steem? More users are my answer.

Does pulling rewards from the reward pool help bring in new users? No.

What helps attracts people? Upvotes do.

What do investors hate? Wasting opportunity.

What is the biggest wasted opportunity when you power up your Steem? Not using your upvotes, as upvotes take up the bulk of the inflation.

What do passive investors result to? Delegating to projects, delegating to bid bots, selling upvotes, self upvoting posts.

Higher curation rewards can help the system as a whole, the person putting skin in the game should be rewarded accordingly.

I love the use it or lose it and the use it can be commerce, curation, etc.

Large hodlers want interest on something that has inflation.
We are such small community inflation does not matter as much this early on.

am i happy when i see a nice upvote on my post? yes of course. but i am also happy when i see a meaningful comment. in the time of steem worth 4-5 bucks votes could be main factor for getting people to stay but now i think interaction and support have more power. or maybe it is just me, and i am wrong

I agree with you, connection is important, but combining the two is magical. This is magical.

yap it is magical, a bit complicated for an average internet user, (i know how i was feeling a year ago :) ) but now it is getting better every day, and i hope we can expect more magic :D

I would love to see the Curation rewards at 50% !

Magic Dice has rewarded your post with a 41% upvote. Thanks for playing Magic Dice.

this was great to listen to.
I started here with the free 35.00 SBD delegation over a year ago..... everything in my wallet I earned from posts. Hearing they are going to take away from content creators was not high on my list of things I was happy about......
Now after listening to you....... if that is what they do and then we are more careful about curating we could still add to our wallets like we were and still be able to grow how much stake we have.

Not everyone has fiat to invest. Not everyone makes posts and takes out all they earn. I see Steem as a very long term investment for myself but am afraid to see people like me get lost along the way.......

Lost because it's always easiest to take from those that have nothing, yet I understand dapp, investors, developers are needed but what I love about Steem was a person like me, through hard work, learning and time could get into some form of crypto through plain hard work.

I agree with everything you said. Especially upvoting great content. I am working as a curator consistently at least 5 to 6 hours of my day for about a year or even more. Steem brings my bread and butter for every day. I have seen so many great authors leaving steem because of not getting appreciation in their posts. I belive although its someone's personal choice to upvote post but from a logical perspective I would say appreciation for great content and a better curation can really make the steemit a great place. I am telling people to join in steemit. Some of my friends joined and they are still in steemit. Some of them left because of not getting appreciation. I hope situation will be better.

Personally, I do not think increasing curation reward would help the steem ecosystem. Maybe from an investors point of view, it does, but as a writer, if I'm getting less or equal to the people consuming my content, that would deter me from creating more content. I rather just invest in steempower and focus on curating. But we need contents to curate--more of it even, to offer the needed diversity in opinions and thoughts. Increasing curation reward will only deter people from creating.

A typical example is musing. When people discovered that it was more profitable to answer questions than ask they did the former. So while the quality of answers improved, the quality of questions reduced. And this kinda made a mess of the platform. So I think if we alter the current structure it will have a negative effect on the steem ecosystem

Interesting points. The author would still get the bulk of the rewards compared to curators because the author gets the full author reward while the curators have to split the reward among those that voted. So I still believe we would have a hefty amount of content creators if we changed the reward pool.

Great comment @nonsowrites. And I concur strongly with you here.

¡A truly eyes opener the Musing example!

Cheers!! :)

This is a blatantly hobest post, and thatswhy I LOVE IT. More power to you.
I really wish more people would speak up, and be open about their thoughts. It would lead to great discussions and open up so many more chains of thought. And that's always good.
Thank you for giving a voice to the opinion that many people share.

I agree with you thay steem is a great place to practoce freedom of thought and enjoy a censorship-free platform. But let's be honest, in todays day and age how many people do ACTUALLY care about that? Just a handful. If the masses really cared, fb would've been out of the game long back, along with so many more.
I have to agree with the attraction of upvotes. That is the single greatest way to on board new users.
But with all the new possibilities and services (dapps/ projects/initiatives), upvotes migh very well become the secondary reason people join.

About "balling" witnesses.
100% agreed. Not only coz they deserve it, but it also plays the part of motivating and attracting developers, investors and even would play a huge part in onboarding new users.
Every other major business Shows of their "trophies", in the form of employees, sponsors, partners, mascots whatsoever AND IT WORKS!

I have thought about this for sometime; it is the curators who decide if a post is the shit... or shit.
I feel like cutation should be given some more incentive...but what are the repercussions? Are we going to see a rise in the number of passive investors? Will it tip the boat towards bots? Will it demotivate creative creation at the rate that we have now?

Hodling- great.
Using votes- excellent.
Lets keep the ball rolling.
I wish you never change and keep voicing your opinions! Big ups to you, Dan!

great video man. appreciate it always.

i think you made some great points about the witnesses.

i want them to be rock stars too. the more they win, i think the whole blockchain wins. and this will drive entrepreneurs to pay very close attention to steem.

people are looking. they are interested in what’s going on here. and that’s very exciting to me.

thinking about what this place will become in a few years from now. upvote the net ;)

Rightly said Dan. Upvotes attract new users and members to the system. And not using your upvotes when you have is a waste of Steem. So, let's imbibe the habit of voting others and not just self-voting.

So, let's imbibe the habit of voting others and not just self-voting.

Wishful thinking.

This is not a religious movement.

Give people the incentive to vote, they will else they won't.

Isn't it amazing such simple concept seems hard to grasp?

Now that's the real miracle right there.

Yeah! It isn't a religious movement, that I know.

What if you have given the incentives and they still don't?

Hmmmm, I vote @theycallmedan for witness... what ya think? 🤔💪🏼🙌🏼💯

👀 - no plans to become one atm because I have a lot of faith in the current witnesses and rather use my focus to support them.
