The Bombay Cat

Over the years, cats the cat breeding industry has seen an interesting array of variety enter its industry. However, this is not the case as it was conceived in the United States as a cross between a Black American Shorthair and a Burmese Sable. The intention of this endeavour was to create a pure black Burmese, something that had not been achieved at this point in time of the early 50s. The resulting Bombay would eventually come into existence and acceptance after twenty years in the states. This type of cat would then find establishment around the European continent towards the 90s with exportation.

The Bombay resides within the Asian Cat Group and gained recognition as a quality show cat standard on an international scale. Due to its heritage, its personality can be said to be similar to that of the Burmese. The Bombay is known to be a flexible living cat that is able to adapt to various styles of life and display versatility in environments. The curious and inquisitive nature paired with the intelligent and composed manner makes it one of the most desirable cats in the world today. Owners will enjoy building a deep and lasting relationship and a significant level of interaction. Its stature also follows that of the Burmese with a strong and muscular appearance throughout the litter. In relation to general cat sizes, it is regarded as a medium sized cat that will reach a modest size and weight of around 11 lbs. Due to its Burmese heritage, the brilliant black and shiny coat requires some care in terms of grooming. Though bathing is not necessarily a regular requirement, regular brushing and checks are required to keep its coat pristine and healthy. Owners and admirers will come to adore the shine and gloss of the brilliant black coat and this cat has sometimes been described to resemble a panther with its large and brilliant golden eyes.
