More Persians
Persian cats are great fluffy companions that will often have warm personalities, bringing out a fun and interactive relationship between owner and pet. There are many different breeds of Persian cats and the Lilac Persian is another sought after breed. As a general trend, the most desirable breeds of coloured varieties will be those without any shading or patterning. The Lilac Persian is thought to be a dilution of the Blue Persian. A blue Persian that has been paired with a Siamese will produce the Lilac pedigree. The lineage of this type of cat is very telling as this Persian will adopt more of an independent personality. Cat owners who own different breeds will notice a great variation of cat personalities. This comes from the lineage of the ancestral tree, in this case the Lilac cat will be happy to keep itself occupied but cat owners can expect a deeper connection with this breed.
Pedigree breeding is subjective but it has been noted that when looking for a cat with the intention to show, the perfect specimen will maintain a thick coat which shines with a silky texture. No other patterning or markings should be found on the coat. The eyes of the Lilac breed are also indicative as these will often be a bright shade of orange. Interestingly, even the paws and nose of the cat will be lilac in colouring. Breeders will often choose to breed lilac cat’s together as there is certainty to produce the same kittens every time without variation.
Moving away from blues and purples, there is a another shade of Siamese Persian that breeders have found joy in producing. This is the Chocolate Siamese which also has ancestry from the Blue. The coat is exactly as one would expect it to be with a thick consistency. This was no always the case however as the Chocolate breed actually came to be recognised after years of continuous breeding. The immediate kittens would exhibit shorter hair and variation in coat. As time went on, a consistent characteristic began to emerge which gave rise to the Chocolate Persian that is recognised for its consistent brown coat.
It’s worth noting that while these cats display beautiful coats, an owner should understand the commitments involved when caring for these types of pets. The longhair breed of cat requires a great deal of maintenance and grooming will prove to be a daily and demanding task.
